Italian EDM revelation Vicky Who?‘s new single ‘Eighty Six’, remixed by legendary DJ and producer Benny Benassi, is out today on Sergio Cerruti’s Just Entertainment label.

‘Eighty Six’ is a powerful dance and tech house track, which explores the dynamics of a complex and tormented relationship. With pounding synths and sounds inspired by 80s/90s dance and the electro-house stylings of legendary producer Benny Benassi, the song captures the emotional essence of those who feel trapped in a futureless but irresistible bond.

Vicky Who? is a young artist who has made her way into the dance, EDM and pop scene, collaborating with the likes of Caparezza and Agents Of Time. After a few years of activity in London and Manchester, and various features with well-known international artists, she achieved great success with the song ‘Liquid Fantasy’ in 2022. Her hypnotic voice and sensual charm make her a fascinating and unique artist in the contemporary musical panorama.

“EIGHTY SIX. So why 86? Well, I found out that in English this number can refer to something that is no longer available or off the menu….so on an emotional level I felt that it was a perfect metaphor for a story, maybe mine. It is the story of someone who feels almost trapped in a relationship which has no future….But despite being well aware of this, two people are tied together by some kind of damned chemistry, by an attraction which will lead them to get hurt again in that hotel room: in “room 86” to be precise. For several days the notes of the same melody echoed obsessively in my head. I called my producers straight away and sang the melody over the phone for fear of forgetting it (many times I’ve had a new song in my head, haven’t got it down in time and then it’s gone… lost….) We have introduced further vibrations by adding pounding synthesizers and modern sounds which are strongly linked to the 80s/90s dance music which I feel is close to my musical world and emotional imagination.

I was reading the interesting autobiography of Dave Grohl (Nirvana, Foo Fighters) and at some point he talks about a teenage love which he defines as an “eighty six” romantic relationship. My mind was blown cause I never heard it defined like that. I really love when symbols become backstories to numbers.

“Eighty Six” was an unexpected evolution of my way to write music and express the feelings behind my day to day life experiences. I finally understood that being vulnerable is cool too or at least creates a connection between me and the audience that I always craved to reach.”
