Tasheff is a producer, songwriter and DJ from Brooklyn, NY. Tasheff was raised in New York City, where he was classically trained at LaGuardia High School before beginning his career as an electronic and pop producer. He’s spent the last two years DJing queer parties across New York City, from Rosemont to the Standard hotel. His upcoming EP, No One Else, is a reintroduction to Tasheff as not just a DJ but a writer and producer as well. Its influences range from 90s R&B to the hyperpop of 2024, and his new single Paragon offers a steamy introduction to the sonic world Tasheff has created.
“I wanted to write something that was really sexy but also had a bit of coyness to it – like I was trying to play it cool but my desire overpowered me. We’ve all met that person who you want so bad that it tears you to pieces, your dignity out the window, and that’s what the song is really about – the pleasure of surrendering to that feeling, completely forgetting yourself when you’re so turned on. I’ve never written about sex so explicitly, and at first thought I could never release this song because of how racy it is, but the courage it took me to even write those lyrics is really what makes it so special.

I noticed over the last few years that a lot of “queer music” is really high BPM, super fast club tracks, and as much as I enjoy that, I wanted to offer something a little more slow and subtle. I was inspired by the pop and R&B of the 90s, albums like “Janet” or “Erotica,” but wanted to add a modern twist in the production. In the end, I came up with this spacious, sexy, synthy track. The restraint in the production mirrors my shyness around a love interest, until of course these big synths come in and I get swept up in my desire. Paragon is one of my favorite tracks I’ve ever made because of how dynamic, dramatic and sexy it is.”
