Balancing the chaos of film sets with the rigor of fitness studios is no easy feat—but for Joshua Uduma, it’s not just a career, it’s a calling. With over a million followers watching his every move, Uduma has become a rare hybrid in today’s cultural landscape: an actor whose artistry is grounded in soulful storytelling and a fitness creator whose discipline borders on superhuman.

In conversation with Mundane, he opens up about meditation as his anchor, his unshakable Southern-rooted spirituality, and the creative chaos that fuels his content. From starring in The Trainer with a cast that reads like a Hollywood dream, to partnering with ALO gyms across LA, Uduma has built a platform that feels both aspirational and surprisingly relatable.

But beneath the glossy surface of camera-ready physiques and cinematic roles lies something deeper: an insistence on authenticity. “Storytelling is in my blood,” he tells us, “and I can’t hold back. I have no limits.” It’s that unfiltered drive—equal parts grit and grace—that makes Joshua Uduma one of the most compelling figures at the intersection of Hollywood and health today.

And if 2025 is the year to dream big? Uduma is already chasing roles, podcasts, and fitness ventures that promise to push him further than ever before. One thing’s for sure: stillness may ground him, but momentum is where he thrives.

From film sets to fitness studios—how do you balance being an actor and a full-time fitness creator without burning out?

That’s an interesting one. I must say, I rely heavily on meditation and setting an intention towards why I’m doing it all to begin with. I’ve had days when I feel so unbothered and a

bit winded. But that’s a reminder that I’ve pushed myself to untapped lengths that do require mandatory stillness. In stillness, we sync with our core to balance all the madness all around us. It’s a blessing to flow in that space.

The Trainer is getting buzz! Can you share what drew you to that project and what your experience was like on set?

Apart from the sensational cast, Tony Kaye, who called me one day and asked me to be apart of this beautiful picture produced by the magnificent Vito Schnabel, is a close dear

friend of mine and remarkable artist on screen and off. I could never say no to anything he’s doing. Believe me, he’s quite convincing when need be, but it didn’t require much in my end to jump right in, haha.

You’ve built a loyal Instagram following of over a million fans. What do you think keeps people coming back to your content?

I believe it’s the well curated authenticity that drives people to it, with a bit of what I consider to be tasteful. I do my best to reveal titrated parts of myself bit by bit, but making sure it always can relate to every one. I’ve been told I’m quite “hilarious” and “stylish”, which can go a long way in connecting with any and everyone. Most struggle in that area of relatability but when you can relate to each individual, you can find deeper ways their lives and sometimes, be that ideal symbol of hope that drives them to keep on keeping on.

We love that your page blends fitness, wellness, and fashion. How do you approach creating content that feels both aspirational and relatable?

That’s a great question. To be honest with you, my mind goes 1 trillion miles per hour. Since that’s the case, I’m always plucking from the multitude of thoughts and desires that fascinate me. I find that if I restrict myself from anything, it could hinder the creativity. So why do it? ( I would ask myself). I tell myself to not hold back—let’s go all out. But, I have to make it make sense. Storytelling is in my blood. I can’t help it.

I can’t shake it. So if I’m telling a story, I’m going to let it begin with the parts of my soul I know everyone will resonate with. Which, I weirdly fancy just about everything. I have no limits.

You partner with ALO gym locations across LA— what’s your go-to workout when you need a quick energy boost?

Whew…now that’s tough. Without a doubt, a great cardio and Weight lifting sesh is non-negotiable. There’s something about doing incline dumbbell chest flys and cables, bent over barbell back rows, shoulder presses with a few RDL and leg workouts

that just getting my engines going. I call it a “Superhero Touch-Up”. You can probably imagine why hah. But it gets all the right areas pumped up and gets that dreamy aesthetic in place. If you never tried it, you have to. The ALO team just gets it. I don’t have to say much. They know how to “snatch you up”. They live by what they preach and teach. I mean, have you seen how they all look? They are prime examples of great healthy living.

Acting and fitness both require discipline in totally different ways. Which has pushed you out of your comfort zone more?

Another great question. I’d have to say fitness. When it comes to acting, to me, that’s all soul work. It comes from the depths of me. My deepest parts of truth. I have yet to do a role that truly emits the fullness of how deep I can go in tapping within myself to express my vulnerability at its prime to relate further with the world. Life, itself is an actors playground. All I have to do is be present and Listen. When it comes to fitness, the

restrictions I put on myself are unreal but possible. I go pretty intense with doing 2-a-day sessions that must be high levels of intensity. But that’s the “easy” part. Staying at a caloric deficit while intermittent fasting for 14-17hrs a day while training at this level is an absolute killer, for the fat of course. It’s tough. But what’s life without a little challenge. The benefits and results immediately speak for itself but staying committed is the real discipline. It helps me realize, I actually can do anything, and I mean anything, if I gather my mind and set it all on that one goal or vision.

You were in The Swing of Things for Amazon Prime— looking back, how has your acting journey evolved since that project?

It’s been quite the journey millions dream of having. I’ve experienced opportunities and roles I would pray for as a small boy growing up in Houston, Tx. Every-single-thing has

just about or almost come to pass. From Swing of Things to, Asking For It, to LITTLE AMERICA, and so forth. The casts and crews I’ve had the honor to work along side of have all been apart of a dream. There’s no other way to truly express how grateful I am and how happy that little boy growing up, hoping and praying, deeply is.

Wellness is a huge part of your personal brand. What’s one non-negotiable ritual or habit that keeps you grounded?

Spirituality tends to be the non-negotiable for me. I say this because how I was raised growing up in the south because of that, when things seem a little shaky and unstable, I know to resort to that foundation to bring stability that nothing else and no one else can bring. It’s a solo act that anyone can do to bring them to a better version of themselves. That’s how I look at it.

You’re at the intersection of Hollywood and health. How do you handle the pressure of staying “camera-ready” without falling into unrealistic standards?

This one is funny to me only because I recently laughed at myself in regards to the crazy diets I’ve given myself over the years. I’ve had to battle this for quite some time. And some of those battles, I definitely took an “L” but bounced right back after I received that revelation of what does work and what does not absolutely work. In result of that, it added layers to the armor of understanding I’ve been able to develop over the years of staying ready for the camera at peak physique. One thing I learned in the midst of it all, is that I can’t lose. That’s a mindset. Every time I create a new diet or nutrition plan for

myself or others, it’s to experience the journey of the body’s evolution. That alone, is so thrilling and fun. Therefore, I’ve enjoyed taking all my experiences of what has worked and molding it into one daily life mission to ensure I am always at my prime, despite whatever circumstances arise. Let’s just say I’ve been the the trenches more than enough times.

If 2025 is your year to dream big, what’s the next milestone for Joshua Uduma—another film, a fitness brand, or something totally unexpected?

A few films will be shot this year where I’m playing roles I’ve always dreamed of alongside quite a bit of huge projects in the works within the podcast and supplements world. I’m so thrilled about them all that I can barely keep my mouth shut. But for now, you just have to buckle up and stay tuned.
