Berlin-based, Manchester-born producer and vocalist Kissen presents her much-awaited debut EP Homesick, out February 6th on Mansions and Millions.

Effortlessly weaving sonic tapestries with touches of R&B, trip-hop, and many more references together, Kissen delves deep into a world of sensuality, darkness, and allure, transcending traditional genre boundaries.

Following on from the tripped out dose of sultry downtempo – ‘2 Swords’ – released late 2023, and latest single ‘Every Time’, a track about reclaiming ownership over oneself after feeling like you haven’t belonged to yourself for a really long time, Homesick consolidates various threads into a singular artistic statement of intent.

Tell us about this release and what inspired it

It’s kind of hard to pinpoint any specific inspirations. Sometimes I feel like I’m bursting with creative energy that needs to come out and that’s when I start producing and just experimenting. Of course coming from the UK and being involved in the Berlin club scene I have a wealth of musical influences to pull from but more than anything I just want to embody my true self and so I try not to pull from anyone else too much.

What’s the most representative track in the ep?

Either homesick or every time. Homesick is the most honest song I’ve written and I still feel very connected to it, maybe more so than the other songs. And Every Time I feel like is the sound I hear in my head when I think about my ultimate self and who I want to be (at least for now)

What can we expect from your 2024?

After releasing the EP I really want to take my time making an album and work with some other producers for a change. Homesick is the product of a pretty rough year and I think you can hear that in the songs. hopefully 2024 is going to be a much better year so maybe you’re gonna get an album of happy bops and everyone that liked Homesick will be like wtf happened to her?! But honestly who knows, I’m taking my time to produce the best possible work I can and in the mean ime I’d love to play more shows in different cities!
