Colombian sensation and one of PEOPLE’s Spring Emerging Artists VALÉ unleashes anticipated dance bop “fit mami” ahead of her debut EP, under the sun, which arrives August 2nd. Listen to “fit mami”

“fit mami” is a hypnotic and liberating experience. With its Latin production and a charged, pulsating beat that urges listeners to ‘put a lil back in it,’ as VALÉ commands, this infectious tune is the perfect soundscape for a Summer of releasing inhibitions. Accompanied by a colorful video, the visual shows VALÉ in a complete ‘fit Barbie’ aesthetic, hitting choreography to the addictive beat.

The sweat-inducing “fit mami” ushers the way to VALÉ’s debut EP, under the sun, which will arrive on August 2nd. The project boasts the songstress’ signature Latin alternative pop flavor and alluring production, matched with her silky vocals.

Showing no signs of slowing down, “fit mami” follows VALÉ’s smooth single “chill like that,” which received critical praise from Rolling Stone, People, Ones To Watch, Global Grind, Contrast Magazine, and more. Earlier this year, VALÉ dazzled sold-out audiences across North America as the direct support for Ross Lynch’s The Driver Era

Tell us about “fit mami.”What’s the message here?

‘fit mami’ is a club track that I wrote specifically to hype up the girls!! We all need some pumped up vibes every now and then. I want women to feel extremely comfortable with who they are, to let loose, be free and happy! That is what this song communicates and the energy I put into it.

How do “chill like that” and “fit mami” go together? Is there a relation there?

The only relation I would say there is between “chill like that” and “fit mami” is the fact that both songs were written to promote confidence and women empowerment!! That is what I will always try to communicate through my songs, only positive vibes here for the girlies.

Who’s your favorite Latin artist right now?

It will always be ROSALÍA! I also love Nathy Peluso, Kali Uchis and Karol G!

How was it growing up in Colombia? How did it influence your creativity?

Being born and raised in Barranquilla, Colombia, influenced my love for music the most. If you’re born in a Latin country, music is in your blood automatically! There’s music everywhere, that definitely influenced my personality and creativity since I was a little girl.

What’s your favorite subgenre of Latin music and why?

I really love Latin bedroom pop, it’s what I like to listen to on my own time! It’s very relaxing, brain fluff vibes!

What’s next in your career?

I have a new single called ‘fit mami’, a certified Latin club banger, out now!! After that, my debut EP ‘under the sun’ will be out on August 2nd!!! I am incredibly excited and proud of this project! It was all made in my home in Barranquilla with my producers, The Fund! I took inspiration from iconic artists such as ROSALÍA, Isadora, SZA, and Rauw Alejandro. This project is a true force that reflects a rich tapestry of musical influences. ‘under the sun’ holds a special place in my heart, it represents my first opportunity to approach music with the mindset of creating a cohesive record rather than focusing on singles.
