Swedish singer, songwriter, and rapper Elliphant is the perfect representation of chaos, a wild and free spirit with everything out of the ordinary, someone who could perfectly fit into the chaotic neutral role. She has left a multitude of amazing albums and singles on her musical path, an untamed soul leaving an impression everywhere she goes. Now, she’s infusing her forthcoming album with the chaos theory that made her so unique.

Her most recent album “TROLL” is wild and reckless. A beautiful embodiment of motherhood and nature. She’s infusing every song with new wisdom and entropy. The album, produced by Johan Wedel and mixed by Richard Silver, is a blend of electronic punk, grime, and hip-hop. An honest blend of ingredients from her newfound motherhood has been poured into. She is showing a rebellion against societal pressures and a passionate love declaration for all expressions of nature. Let’s take a look at each song and see what she has in store for us.

“INTROLL” is a clever use of words. The short introduction feels almost tribal and is a good example of what we can expect moving forward. “THERAPY” is where things get real. Elliphant showcases her abilities and unique style, rapping like nobody’s business. Her chaotic nature translates perfectly into music. The beat is catchy, and the lyrics and flow are top-notch. Overall, this song is an enjoyable listen and shows Elliphant‘s impressive talent. Next stop is a fun one with “DUST” with a playful rhythm that goes hand in hand with her voice, it is impossible not to feel the emotion behind this one. There’s no stop on this frenetic ride, we just keep going with “PANDORA,”  which is overall, the most electric tune so far. “MOBS” will make you wanna chant alongside Elliphant, up and down like a roller coaster. It is a powerful track that will make you want to move your body and get lost in the rhythm. Elliphant is not afraid to merge traditional electronic sounds with industrial and “TRENCH” is evidence of that. Her distorted voice adds a surreal touch, calling you to join her in an ethereal realm. “MINIMAL” is a more classical approach to techno, with a retro style. This one could easily be part of The Matrix Reloaded soundtrack. We finish with “OUTROLL,” a short conclusion to this crazy ride.

With “TROLL” Elliphant is presenting her dark side, a place where she travels to confront her demons, letting her rage get loose but most importantly, to have fun while doing it. A place where opposites coexist and blend into a powerful, magical troll.

Elliphant‘s career started back in 2012 when her debut single “Tekkno Scene” was featured in FIFA 13. Her peculiar style caught everyone’s attention and thanks to this she had several opportunities to collaborate with heavyweights such as Diplo, Doja Cat, Skrillex, and Major Lazer. She has been able to perform all around the world, in festivals like Glastonbury, Coachella, and Roskilde among others; she has also opened for Charli XCX on her Girl Power North America Tour and Major Lazer on their European tour. Thanks to her honesty and unique style her music has been featured in several popular TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy, Pretty Little Liars, and Billions. As Elliphant marks her 10-year anniversary with “TROLL” she shows no signs of slowing down. It’s time to let this feel her strength as a force of chaos. The true essence of who we really are by nature. Because, guess what? Nature can be reckless and we’re ready to embrace it.
