With heavy-set basslines and sharpened techno percussion at its core, “05:00AM JUNGLE CHASE” (Neus Remix) emerges as a stadium ready anthem. Taken from their monumental retro-futuristic project LOVE REVOLUTION, the Parisian duo (Hawaii and Sukil) enlist electro staple Neus to remix the track into a new atmosphere. Building tension and release with quick-cut beat drops, Sukil’s distorted vocal melodies effortlessly glide across the chaotic instrumental with unwavering confidence.
Known for seamlessly blending textures of pop, rave and eclectic techno with shining authenticity, Hawaii and Sukil started to create significant heat surrounding their hit 2020 album LOVE REVOLUTION. Early plays across BEATS1 by music and fashion icon Pharrell Williams catapulted Sacre’s name into the mainstream spotlight, as the dynamic pair collected major tastemaker support including COMPLEX, THE LINE OF BEST FIT, CLASH and EARMILK to name a few. A rigorous release pattern over the years quickly garnered the duo well over 5.2M streams across their hedonistic discography, aided by key collaborations with international talents Elephanz, Gigamesh and Kraak & Smash.
What inspired this last release?
We’ve created 05:00PM JUNGLE CHASE for our album Love Revolution, a 12 songs album inspired by mythology.
This eleventh track talks about the violent ways some guys can have when they flirt with a girl in a club. How people turn into animals at some point in the night, predator or prey.
What is something you can’t live without?
Sukil: Hawaii
Hawaii: Sukil
Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?
We wrote this track after 2 months without any smoke and alcohol. We were so angry with the world, with everything. A lot of violence came while we were writing and singing. We had to tone down the track to fit the overall mood of the album. So we learned something about ourselves: we are much more effective drunk.
What’s your favorite thing to do besides music?
Sukil: Walking my dog early in the morning while everyone is sleeping.
Hawaii:Dive into the ocean. Hear nothing and make time disappear.
What’s a record or artist that shaped your creativity?
Sukil: I have asked myself this question so many times…. and the answer is still “Harry Potter” original score by John Williams. No piece of music can beat it.
Hawaii: Deadmaus, John Williams, Sebastian
Who is an artist or band you look up to today?
Sukil: I’m stuck in the seventies. Can’t think about anyone from today.
Hawaii: Childish Gambino blows my mind, this guy is free and I admire that, this is our next goal.
What excites you the most about what you do?
Sukil: It’s cool to write an album, but the most interesting thing for me is to think about the next one. The best part is brainstorming a concept, drawing inspiration from where we live and what we learn to make meaningful music.
Hawaii: Unlike Sukil, the most exciting part of Sacre is when I’m behind my piano and when the concept has been done. I can dive deep into the music, forget everything and let myself be carried away by the sound.
