Tell us about your story as an artist.

My story started when I was probably 19, I’m 22 now. Going through a very shitty breakup at the time, I didn’t know how to cope. I tried writing, tried drawing, and tried therapy. Honestly, I tried so many things until I decided that recording music was my therapy. I made music first as a vault where I kept my emotions. I had shown my cousin one of the songs, but keep in mind, I didn’t know how to mix and master the song, so he gave me some pointers. Once that first song was complete, he insisted I dropped it, so I did. The feedback and the number of people who felt the same way and supported me even though I’ve never met them in my life were amazing. It quickly went from me being scared to tell someone how I felt to other people understanding and sharing these feelings. It was humbling and still is. From there, I grew, and it became more than therapy, it became a family and it’s growing bigger. At this time, I’m trying to dig deeper within myself and experience new things, new perspectives, and with that comes new music. I’m very excited.

What do you think is the most important aspect of your life right now?

The most important aspect of my life right now is finding the balance between making music, making sure my mental health is good, and keeping in touch with my family. Some nights I leave the studio when the sun comes out. Keeping that in mind, I try to take the time to slow down and watch the sunrise and just feel.

What makes this song special in your opinion?

This song was the first song I made in California. I made it in my manager’s basement and didn’t think much of it, but they loved it, and that’s what I think makes it special. It was that feeling I felt when I first heard it.

What inspired “Cupid”?

A couple of Corona’s and a bad Valentine’s Day experience.

What are some of the core messages in “Cupid”?

The message is that Cupid, but in my case, a female, doesn’t always have to be sweet and innocent. There are two sides to everything. It’s all about perspectives.

How do you think TikTok and social media are contributing to changing an artist’s career?

We all know TikTok is the absolute best way to blow up overnight. It’s amazing how much content can be viewed at such a high rate, but there are so many artists no one knows about, and amazing ones at that.
