With her previous EP ‘Redlight’ already championed by BBC Introducing Scotland, and playlist support on ‘New Pop UK‘ and ‘Fresh Finds: Pop‘, Jennifer returns with her anthemic and uplifting new single about finally getting over a break up.

Naming HAIM, Harry Styles and Fleetwood Mac as her main inspirations, Jennifer draws from her combined influences, seamlessly blending elements of indie and pop, combined vocal harmonies and big pop melodies to form her distinctive sound.

Tell us about the genesis of your project No Hard Feelings. How did you get to where you are now?

  • ‘No Hard Feelings’ is about finally getting over a breakup and being happy being independent again. I wanted the song to  feel anthemic and uplifting for anyone going through the same thing. I was going through a break up and having a bit or a rough time but I  just woke up one morning and felt okay about it all one day. I wanted to write a positive break up song showing that it’s okay and things will eventually get better.

What should a song or piece of art communicate in your opinion?

  • I think songs should be honest and true to how you’re really feeling, I always feel the best songs are the ones that are super honest and real.

Who were your top 3 artists last year?

  • Sam Fender, Harry Styles and Wolf Alice!

What do you do when you’re feeling uninspired?

  • I kind of just let it happen,  live my life a bit until I have something I really want to talk about. I also listen to a lot of other artists’ music and take inspiration from that! I’m always writing ideas but I don’t think you should force a good song

What are your 2022 projects and goals?

  • Releasing more music throughout the year and I have a headline show at The Waiting Room on the 27th of July!

Favourite movie or TV show?

  • Obsessed with Stanger Things right now

Can you outline your creative process?

  • I write a lot with co-writers and producers and a lot of them are my friends, which is really cool and makes me super comfortable to come out and be fully honest in my songwriting.

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

  • I love Wolf Alice’s look and brand and also Harry Styles’ fashion and aesthetic, the goal is to be as cool as him one day!

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

  • So far releasing music and hearing everyone’s reaction from it and how it’s really helped some people when listening to my music! I always think stuff like that is so cool and is one of the reasons why we make music.

What do you think an artist should sing about nowadays?

  • I don’t think there’s a right or wrong thing to sing about, just if you’re honest in what you’re saying and what is happening in your life or how you’re feeling! I think if you’re forcing something that is not you in your music it shows – honesty is definitely key and most of the time is super relatable to a lot of people!

Do you have any regrets?

  • I try not to have any, I feel like everything happens for a reason in life.

What is some piece of advice you would give to yourself right now?

  • Try not to stress too much and give yourself a hard time – you’re doing a good job!
