Cork-born artist LYRA releases her debut, self-titled album, unveiling a comprehensive reflection of who the artist is today. Written between Los Angeles and London, the 14 tracks express the broad range of her musicality, journeying from the dark and sultry “Chess” to the ethereal radio hit “Falling” and the pulsating dance anthem of “Lovers”, all of which elevate her powerful vocals that have given her a one-to-watch status.

“When I began writing music, I aimed for a specific style,” she explains. “But as I started developing, I wanted to write a ballad when I was heartbroken, or an irreverent song when I had a one-night stand, or an upbeat song about going on the lash with my friends and dancing until three am. To me, music should be fun and evoke different emotions, and you’re not going to do that through one s

You mentioned this record is a reflection of who you are today. Who is that?

I’m a strong, self loving, happy woman. I have learnt a lot in the past few years about myself and how important it is to have a healthy and loving relationship with ME in order to be happy and fully embrace the woman I am.

What is the most important time of your career so far?

The day I met Caroline Downey, my manager. She has changed my life. I have never had someone believe in me so much or make me feel like I am good enough to make a real mark in music. She made me realise my full potential.

What have you learned about this industry throughout the years as an artist?

Trends come and go, people come and go, life is what you make it. Always be true to yourself and follow your own path, we are not all born the same so why try to sound and look the same.

What’s a lifetime goal of yours?

To play Glastonbury and to headline Electric Picnic. I would also like a number 1 in the uk x

Who are your main inspirations, vocals wise?

Sia, I mean have you heard the pipes one her wowowoow. Also Adele because she had the art of telling a story through her voice which I find amazing.

What’s your creative process like? Do you prefer writing solo or do you like co writers with you?

I like to start my songs at home in my pjs on my own. It’s where no one can judge me and I 100% can say whatever I want.

Some songs start as tiny ideas I take to a producer and work on from there. I love working with others to be able to collaborate and explore new sounds with production.

How do you see the future of your unfolding?

I see a second album being made, maybe a groundbreaking duet and a lot of bad dancing on stage.
