What inspired you to start learning music in the first place?
I’ve always liked music and I’ve always been tuned in with music. When I was younger, I would listen to VHS tapes and get a shoebox and jewelry and listen to music and just play along with those random items that sounded close to a drum. I was constantly playing on my little keyboard in my house, so it’s always been a part of my life.
How did you reconcile it with your sports career?
I feel like music and sports go together really well. So it’s easy to do both.
What inspired this eclectic mixture of genres and sounds in this release?
I wanted to stay along the lines of the style of music that I do but I also wanted to show my versatility when it comes to being able to place my voice on certain tracks.
Who introduced you to EDM and what do you remember from those days?
I have always been inspired by Calvin Harris and his music. He is one of my favorite artists, so I learned a lot from him.
You also make jewelry. How did you get into that?
I really got into it during Covid. I was like man, what if I made my own jewelry and then I just started making it and wearing it. Sometimes I made the beads match whatever outfit I was wearing that day. I kept making more and more jewelry for myself and people kept asking me to sell it and I finally made a store for it. I feel like it’s another part of me- you got the music, the sports, and the jewelry.
How would you ultimately describe yourself and what are you trying to say with your art?
The way I would describe myself is I just like to live life and I like to make people smile and I feel like life is not supposed to be hard at all. Life is what you make of it. With my art I want to be expressive with it. If I have something going on that I want to get off my chest, I want to be able to say it on a song but for the most part I want my songs to make people feel good.
