What’s your story as an artist?
I grew up in Austin, Texas, and moved to New York City to start my career as an artist. I consider myself a singer, but all my music is also self-produced, which is a skill I’ve been kind
of working on since I was around 12 years old. Everything you hear comes entirely from me and I would love to keep it that way because I’m such a control freak about every detail, which can be annoying. Lol.
What do you want your music to communicate?
I would love for people to relate not only to the lyrics but to the melodies and instrumental elements of my music. Every project I have done nothing but challenge and push myself to create better and better content, and I hope people who have been following my journey realize that, and for those who are new, I hope you appreciate what I have been putting out now.
What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?
I draw from experiences that made me feel my peak emotions. If I am writing about going out and having fun, I will write about the feelings I had when I had an unforgettable night, or even a night that I don’t entirely remember!! It is the same situation for love and loneliness.
Who is an artist that you look up to more than others today?
I look up a lot to Lady Gaga. How could you not? She has had an unbelievable career that radiates inspiration. There are a handful of underground artists in the New York and LA scene that I truly admire, but Gaga will always have a special place in my mind.
What’s the record or artist that made you realize you wanted to be
an artist?
Not to sound like a Gaga superfan, but I got to give her this one also. Her debut was one of the most exciting and thrilling experiences I had the pleasure of witnessing at a young age. Her hustle to create her art is something truly admirable.
Tell us about your latest release and how it came about
I just recently released my debut music video for my single, “Love Me Back”. The video was directed by this insanely talented director from Brooklyn named Mikey Harmon – he enjoyed the song and pitched me his vision for the video. I let him take complete creative visual control – I’ve told him before that he is the version of me in a different, film dimension as every visual aspect of the video was formulated by him, including the postproduction edit. He had help from Gustavo Toledo, Abraham Bec, and me along the way, following his lead. The entire process was so fun and enjoyable, and it translated beautifully into the final video.
What inspires your sound?
I tend to gravitate between Pop, Dance, and R&B. “Love Me Back” leans more towards the Pop/R&B landscape. I am insanely inspired by main pop artists like Ariana Grande & Charli XCX and their abilities to blend all of these genres into one.
What’s your favorite tune of yours?
“Love Me Back” <3
Where are some things you really want to accomplish as an artist?
I would love to continue to write, create music videos, and someday release a formal body of work like an EP or an album. I’m very happy with this video and I want to do it like 20 more times!!
Favorite lyric you ever wrote?
There’s a lyric in the song that goes, “I think I probably drank to much” and that is something that has landed me in a lot of trouble!! We’re working on that!! LOL
Was there ever a moment when you felt like giving up?
Of course. I’ve been creating music since I was 12 years old and now I’m starting to feel like people actually care to listen. It’s been a huge struggle but every little success makes it that much more worth it.
What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
My partner gave a toast one day and said “may the only pain in your life be Champagne” and that has been my life moto!!
Where do you think the next game changer will be in the music
industry and entertainment scene?
The New York nightlife scene has spit out so many great, raw, and incredible talent. Everyone there has such a drive, and the next stars are heading to the clubs. They’re there – and waiting to explode.
