After announcing a performance at the Olympia on November 20, 2025, the artist behind the diamond-certified single ‘Shining Light’ (over 50M streams) is back with “TAKING MY DISTANCE,” a powerful track that intertwines rebellion and independence. Known for his bold and inventive DIY approach, Aime Simone marks a new chapter in his artistic journey with this release. Creating an intense and aggressive dynamic the track, driven by frantic percussion, blends reimagined rock energy with trap rhythms and the pulse of an 808.
The music video, co-directed by his creative and life partner Sonja Fix and director Vitalii Akimov (Kanye West, Eartheater), presents a striking visual universe, blending CGI, artificial intelligence, and real-life imagery. Inspired by Gustave Doré’s engravings for Paradise Lost, the cult film The Wall by Pink Floyd, and the expressionist classic Metropolis, the video tells the story of an angelic figure navigating a futuristic world dominated by machines. This blend of references and styles offers a visual journey as innovative as it is surreal.
What’s the story behind Taking My Distance?
There are multiple layers of interpretation. One of them is very fiction based. It’s the story of an angel that feels restricted by his duties in heaven, and he decides to run away from it, following the call of a devilish melody from beneath the clouds. As he jumps off to leave heaven, his metallic wings controlled by robots stop working and he crashes into an underworld…

You’ve just announced your third album. What can you tell us about the album?
This album is about revolt and rebellion. The songs are a collection of short stories, fragments with a clear narrative when you put them together. Also I really sped up the tempo in my productions, most songs are between 140-160pbm, it’s gonna be crazy live.
How has the process of creating this album differed to your last album Oh Glory?
This album is more conceptual, written from the perspective of different characters which gave me more freedom in my lyrics and interpretations. It’s also more experimental, rap and punk than it is indie pop.
