Omar Sedky is an Austrian rap artist, producer, and songwriter. Growing up in the quiet town of Feldkirch in Vorarlberg, Sedky was still Influenced by tons of American rappers. At the young age of 5, he was already making music specialising in percussive instruments and then the guitar.
In 2013, Omar started to produce music combining elements of EDM, DnB, Dubstep, Trap, HipHop, RnB and Wave. In 2017, he honed in his sound to focus on HipHop and R&B, building a home studio in his basement by the start of 2018.
Naming Kanye West and Travis Scott as his biggest inspirations, these influences really shine through on his music from the use of auto-tune and melodic vocals, to the electric and experimental beats.
Another important influence on Omar’s distinctive sound is his friend and producer BLVEBIRD, who has produced most of his tracks so far. The production usually features trap drums and experimental sounds, as well as vocal samples. Growing up together, these two have developed a very strong bond which can felt through the music.
In December 2018, Omar released his first EP: ‘Parental Advisory’. In 2019, Omar Sedky signed to the New York-based Entertainment company, Devamag. In the same year, Omar Sedky was selected and featured by the organisation Union of Excellence as the youngest entertainment industry member under the section international emerging artists.
What’s your story as an artist?
My story as an artist. I haven’t really thought about that too much yet but if I’d have to say something that’s important for me to embody it’d be that money is easily accomplished compared to something much more difficult to experience (for example love).
In my videos I also like to show a bit of the critics against the consume-culture, which seems like a good way of living, although it only leaves a void in the end.
But obviously also relationships are a big thing in their endless variations and excessive highs and lows of feelings.
What inspired this single?
The thoughts that nothing feels good if you’re not around the right people. Also, the pain you feel once you realize that the people you’re with are not right for you.
What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?
Mainly my life, I usually take my inspiration from things that happen in my daily life. I don’t really think about the music too much, I just let it come by itself — just like a diary.
Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing the album?
I honestly don’t know very much anymore because the song was originally written and recorded 3 years ago — I only finished it this year because I found it on an old hard drive and it immediately caught my attention.
But what I know is that I was going through a heartbreak at the time I wrote it.
Tell us about the music video and the idea behind it ?

What’s a record that shaped your creativity?
The whole album or mixtape if you want by Travis Scott “Days Before Rodeo”.
Who is an artist or band you look up to today?
I think Kanye is a total visionary. Also, Travis Scott’s production is a huge inspiration for me (mainly because of Mike Dean).
Any future projects?
There are a lot of projects coming. I’d actually have 3 full albums of music ready to release but good things take time!
Top 3 dream collaborations?
Kanye West
Travis Scott
Reezy (German-Rapper)
What does music mean to you?
When I write music I use it as an art of a time capsule to capture the stuff that happens to me and around me.
When I listen to music, it is like I’m in a different world. Since I’m producing everything of my music myself too, I don’t only hear music no more I rather see it in my mind how the track was made.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
It’s very difficult because I can not put it in a box myself. I would say my sound is usually an energizing beat and emotionally driven lyrics partly sung with the topics covering a lot of heartbreaks.
