Roses In December is a powerful rock group hailing from Newcastle and in their latest offering they tear apart a ever so cogent theme such as toxic masculinity. The track is called ‘The Day That He Saw Red’ and the title is worth a thousand words itself.
The song is filled with electric riffs and sinister vibes which perfectly encapsulates the storyline: the inner mind of a certain killer from the North East of England who loses control and gives way to his toxic male rage.
The track was recorded with Sam Grant from fellow Geordie rockers Pigs x7, it ended up being a guiding light for the band in terms of how they wanted to re-define their sound.
“This is another song where we’re telling a local story of toxic masculinity,” the band says. “The lyrics to this song were based on true events. Our bassist created the hook to the song and collaborated with Max who put the structure. It all came to place within one practice.”
With their undeniably powerful storytelling, the band is steadily carving its own path within the musical landscape. They’ve been backed by Tom Robinson on Radio 1 and BBC Introducing North East, sold out a slew of headline gigs in their native Newcastle and made appearances at Stone’s Throw Festival and The Alternative Escape.
