Indie pop singer, Ryman is thrilled to release their new single “Immature” that is out now

Ryman says, I wrote the chorus/hook for this song back in October of 2020. It basically talks about breaking a girl’s heart, but learning from your mistakes and wanting her back. Cleve Wilson had commented on a TikTok of me playing the chorus, so I decided to bring it in to work on in our writing session. Cleve Wilson, Val Hoyt, and I ended up finishing the song in about an hour.

At just 17-years-old, singer/songwriter RYMAN, the namesake of one of the most revered venues in his hometown of Nashville, is poised to impact this year with his uniquely youthful and colorful sound. A musician by nature, RYMAN remembers being drawn to music as early as preschool, stating, “I’ve been coming up with melodies ever since I can remember, literally. At 3-years-old, I was humming or singing lyrics and not knowing where they came from.” Now, with a thoughtful grasp of his musical sensibilities, RYMAN’s melodies and lyrics are very much backed by intention and purpose.

Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where  you are now?

This project was inspired by the different types of love, emotions, and  relationships you experience during high school and the life change that  comes along with it.

What is the favorite song you wrote and why?

Go Away is probably my  favorite song I’ve ever written. I think lyrically it paints a very vivid picture  and I love the melancholic feel of the melody. It just works and seems to  really connect with people. I believe that honesty and vulnerability go a long way when it comes to great songwriting.

Who are your all time musical icons?

I love Rex Orange County. He’s  the first person that really inspired me as an artist. I also really love Lany,  Jackson Browne, The Beatles, & Coldplay all have inspired me greatly in  one way or another.

What are some things to do to keep your inspiration alive?

I’m constantly trying to listen to as much music as possible from as many  genres as I can get my ears on.

Who are you binge listening to these days?

Jeremy Zucker & Yung Lean

Favorite movie or TV show?

I love Criminal Minds.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about.

I’ve been sitting on a lot of these songs for well over a year now. I typically  go into Nashville to write and record after school most days. I love being in  Nashville because there are so many incredibly talented writers and  producers to collaborate with. I’m really excited to be working with Cleve  Wilson, a dear friend, co-writer, and producer to bring this batch of songs to  life. I am learning that patience is a virtue in the music industry when it  comes to releasing music. It’s hard to pick just a handful of songs when you  write so many, but I hope that more of these songs will see the light one  day as well.

Do you have any peculiar pre or post show rituals?

I’m a pretty chill guy most of the time, but I like to drink a Red Bull right  before going on stage.

What’s the future looking like for you?

I’m graduating high school this  May and looking forward to playing more shows and hopefully touring. It’s

hard to believe I’ll be a full time working musician in just a few short  months. I’m actually doing my best to make the most of every day I have  left of my high school days and spending as much time as possible with my  friends.

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

I am passionate about all  things vintage when it comes to style and fashion. I love thrifting and  getting off the beaten path for flea markets, yard sales, and thrift stores. If I  had more money I would definitely dress a little different, but I do enjoy the  thrill of the hunt and finding unique one of a kind items thrifting. I did tell my  parents that one day if I actually make some big money, I’m getting a  Versace robe.

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most  proud of and why?

Playing my first headlining show in my hometown was  pretty special. We packed out one of my favorite venues in town and it was  definitely a night I will never forget. Signing my record deal with Cinematic  when I was 15 and having my label believe in me and my music is pretty  special too.

What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist nowadays? I’m not sure if I’m the guy to answer that question, but I believe Authenticity  is everything when it comes to being an artist.

What would you change in the music and entertainment industry  especially after this past year?

I would love to see artists and songwriters  especially get paid more for streams.
