Rufus, the follow-up to the Mississippi-raised artist’s 2022 album off the grid, allows listeners a deeper, more vulnerable look into the inner workings of Yot Club’s thoughts. The 13-track album explores themes of juxtaposition, introspection, and nostalgia through Kaiser’s signature lo-fi sound and relatable storytelling. Confidentially, Rufus will be available everywhere on March 29th via Amuse. It’s an instant earworm of a record will effortlessly find itself on repeat.

“Pixel” was the last song I made for Rufus. It took me a while to wrap the album up because I knew I wanted to end on a really strong note. I had 11 songs already written and recorded from my house and that was my plan for the rest until I unexpectedly got linked up with Tommy English, a producer/songwriter that I’ve always really admired. I pretty quickly flew out to work with him at his studio in LA with a broad sketch of what would go on to become “Pixel”. We worked great together and knocked out the song in two days. I feel like the song has got unique feel to it, Tommy’s choice to use slide guitar was brilliant.

We made the video a couple months later back home in New York with Ben Turok who is another really talented creative person that I admire. I love the video, it encapsulates the theme and mood of the song so well — each character in the video is shown moving through life on their own path, as we all are. Our singular lives feel so simple when we’re focused on going about our days but you realize unbelievably complex things actually are when you zoom out. I think with the advent of the internet, it’s easier to realize how big the world is and how tiny all our existences are. We’re all just tiny pixels that make up the full picture.”
