Sam Spiegel aka Sam I is not a new acquaintance for Mundane. We already chatted with him about his latest short film “Heaven’ where he addresses cogent issues such as depression and mental health. The production was made in collaboration with acclaimed dancer Nevaeh Meraz and was truly kick ass as well as highly inspirational.
Well, guess what? Sam just released another track called “Shake” — a hypnotic new single featuring Phantom Planet’s Alex Greenwald.
“‘Shake’ is a song about getting into the most exclusive club in the Universe. You know, the kind of place you might only get into once in your life. Sam sent me the track at the start of lockdown and I fell in love with it. The melody and lyrics just flowed out. Love a good flow.” Alex told us
The track follows his 2020 debut solo album Random Shit From the Internet Era which itself features top artists of all kinds of genres such as Sia, Busta Rhymes, Anderson .Paak, Doja Cat & more.
Sam previously worked with his brother, Oscar-nominated film director Spike Jonze, Sam’s soundtrack for a dreamy Adidas commercial with vocals by Karen O.reached No. 1 on the iTunes charts — he also scored Jonze’s Yeah Right!, the top-selling skate movie of all-time, HBO’s Pretty Things and Drew Barrymore’s Whip It.
Another hot collab we wanna put in your radar comes from Caleborate. The track is called “Contact” and it features Kota the Friend. The mellow, lyrically powered banger is off the upcoming album Light Hit My Skin which will be out on March 26 — featuring just-announced collaborations with Duckwrth, Deante’ Hitchcock, redveil and more.
Mixing ’90s alternative, classic 2000s rap, electro-pop and beyond, to Caleborate “this album is about feeling feelings that black men aren’t usually allowed to feel…it’s about pursuit, within the context of this sort of new American dream…”
The charismatic 27-year-old already has 75 million+ streams and has been featured on all the playlists, FIFA ’21 soundtrack and Shaft with Samuel L. Jackson – COLORS performance here & more below if you’d like to check out.
