From the moment you hit play, the new single ‘Marché’ from LA-via-Paris singer, songwriter and online personality Melli Monaco will have you voguing the house down.
The titillating new track is out everywhere now, accompanied by a fabulously outrageous music video. You are just one click away from your new favourite runway anthem besties.
‘Marché’ kicks off with an uptempo electronic beat, so immediately – you know you are in for a good time. Paired with Melli’s charismatic yet alluring vocals and an infectiously catchy chorus, the track wouldn’t be out of place as the soundtrack to London or Milan Fashion Week.
Speaking of the track, Melli says:
“I just want people to have fun and feel free to do whatever they want. It’s the type of song to boost your ego, to feel yourself and feel good doing it! I want to promote self-love with my music, and I hope people enjoy listening to it, share it with their friends and all enjoy it together!”
Already a popular online personality, Melli got into music when her YouTube channel got taken down. She needed a different outlet to express herself until she could rebuild another channel. She found that she really enjoyed the process of music making, and creating music with good vibes that makes people happy – say no more.
‘Marche’ came about after being at a release party of one of my friends, Rufin, in LA. I ran into an old friend who had started his own label. We didn’t even know that we both were into this music business. A month later, we met up in Atlanta and we decided to give it a try and see if we could make some magic.
We got to the studio, where he introduced me to Needlz (producer) and City (writer). We listened to some beats and Marche’s beat caught our attention. City had an idea right away, went straight to the booth. I followed. We came back another day and finished it. And that was it. Marche was born.
I think I am where I am now because of my consistency and perseverance but also because of the people around me who are willing to help me make better music.’
Melli reveals to Mundane
Melli’s highly successful and highly entertaining YouTube channel boasts 250K subscribers and features tongue-in-cheek tutorials for men in ‘Learn Some Game With Melli’, reaction videos and vlogs. She also recently launched The Pineapple Show, a hilarious dating show where women make the rules and can reject potential suitors by saying ‘Pineapple’.
“Being new to making music, I work with more seasoned writers. I usually select a beat, see how it makes me feel, see what it makes me think about and usually a topic shows up. I talk about what I see with my writers and we work together.
They help me put things together in a “proper” way. They usually send me references which I learn and twik and then we go to the studio and record.”
She confesses.
Born and raised in Neuilly-sur-Marne, an urban suburb of Paris, Melli Monaco had a troubled upbringing. She was able to find some peace in the sounds of Booba, Doc Gyneco and Saian Supa Crew, who served as her early musical influences.
After moving to the States, she settled in Atlanta, GA, where she was in and around the music scene honing her skills as an artist. In 2019, she moved to Los Angeles, where she began working on her first project and shortly after that dropped the track ‘War’, followed by a diverse collection of singles that draw from all of her influences.
