Los Angeles-based alternative pop/rock band Eleven Green is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated new single, “Fix Tool,” available on all major streaming platforms on October 17, 2024. “Fix Tool” showcases Eleven Green’s signature blend of rhythmic grooves and gritty electronic undertones, delivering a playfully sarcastic take on modern life. The track offers a minimal yet powerful sonic experience, reflecting the band’s evolution while staying true to their alternative rock roots.
In this exciting collaboration, Eleven Green’s guitarist and producer Khoren Mikayelyan teams up with Billboard #1 artist and award-winning producer Vahagn Stepanyan to produce “Fix Tool.” The song blends infectious rhythms with witty, thought-provoking lyrics, capturing the essence of the band’s distinctive sound.
What’s the story behind Fix Tool?
Fix Tool was born from a creative exploration of textures and rhythms. We wanted to create something that felt raw yet polished, balancing complexity and simplicity. This track marks a significant milestone for our band, as it’s the first time we’ve ventured into co-production with someone outside our core group. Collaborating with Vahagn Stepanyan, an award-winning Billboard #1 charting producer, brought a fresh dynamic to our production process. We are also thrilled to have worked with Josh Gudwin, a 5x US and 7x Latin Grammy-winning mixing engineer renowned for his work with global stars like Dua Lipa and Justin Bieber. His expertise helped shape the track’s alternative sound, giving it a professional yet edgy finish. To cap it off, the mastering was done by Chris Gehringer, a senior mastering engineer at Sterling Sound. His work with artists like Drake, Ed Sheeran, and Lady Gaga ensured that Fix Tool received the final polish it needed, delivering a punchy and pristine finish. This combination of top-tier talent makes Fix Tool a standout release, blending our signature style with the expertise of industry leaders. This collaboration has truly been an honor for us.
What was the creative process like for this track?
Our creative process is often very fluid. We don’t like to box ourselves into a strict method. For Fix Tool, we started with an instrumental loop and then slowly added layers of synths, basslines, and guitar textures. We exchanged ideas back and forth, experimenting with different sounds until we felt we had a track that encapsulated what we wanted. A lot of our time went into making sure the groove stayed dynamic while keeping a clean production.
What’s the message behind it?
Fix Tool is a fun and sarcastic take on those complicated relationships where, despite all the red flags, you’re still drawn to someone. We’ve all been there—liking someone who’s clearly not the best for us, but you can’t help it because they feel like the only one at the time.
What makes dance music so special in your opinion?
Dance music has this unique ability to connect people on a visceral level. There’s something primal about rhythm that speaks to everyone, regardless of language or background. It’s universal. The energy, the emotion, and the communal experience of people moving together create a bond that few other music genres can replicate.
Who is your favorite artist of all time and why?
That’s a tough one! It’s hard to pick just one favorite artist because we’re influenced by so many different sounds and genres. We draw inspiration from everything, starting with classical and ethnic music, all the way to metal and today’s top hits. Every genre and artist brings something unique to the table, whether it’s the emotion in a classical piece, the storytelling in folk music, or the energy in a pop track. We love to pull from all of that to create something new and exciting, so it’s impossible to narrow it down to just one.
Where does the name Eleven Green come from?
The name Eleven Green is actually a combination of our personal favorites. “Eleven” is Khoren’s favorite number, and “Green” is my (Nare’s) favorite color—I’ve been obsessed with it since childhood. It just felt right to bring those two things together because they represent a little piece of both of us and our personalities.
What is the creative and personal dynamic between you two?
The most important thing about our dynamic is that we’re best friends first, and we like to call ourselves “dreammates.” That’s the foundation of everything, both personally and professionally. We trust each other and push each other to be better, which is key to how we work. Of course, the creative process isn’t always smooth. Sometimes it can get complicated because we both feel like our ideas are the right ones. There are moments when we’re 100% sure the other one is wrong, but honestly, that back-and-forth is what makes our music stronger. It keeps us on our toes and helps us come up with something even better in the end.
How does your Armenian heritage play into the fabric of your act?
The rich history, culture, and traditional music of Armenia have a significant influence on the melodies and rhythms we explore, even if they’re not always immediately noticeable. There’s a sense of pride and connection to our roots that informs how we create and the stories we tell through our music.
What’s your favorite track from Against All Odds and why?
Our favorite track from Against All Odds is called “Watch Me.” It’s about the internal battle you face when society tries to hold you back, pushing you to stay in a “safe place” that might not be where you truly belong. The song is all about breaking free from those limitations and proving to yourself—and to everyone else—that you can go beyond what’s expected of you. It’s empowering, and it’s a message that really resonates with us on a personal level.
What can we expect from you now?
Right now, we’re basically living in the music studio! When we open our eyes in the morning, we’re already in our creative space, ready to dive into new ideas. We have so much we’re working on, and we’re really excited about everything that’s coming. The creative process itself is the best part of the journey for us—it’s where the magic happens. We feel a deep connection with the people who listen to our music, and we promise we’re working hard to bring something meaningful to them.
