Released by Second Estate Records and Warner Records, SPLIT is the latest single by alt-R&B artist Nobu Woods. The track marries honest lyrics about the pain of a breakup with captivating, timeless rhythms that invite listeners to dance along.

Staying true to the style and aesthetic that have defined him since his debut EP, IRIS (2022), and mixtape MIDNIGHT MOTIONS (2023), Woods leans into themes of love and heartbreak, sharing his personal experiences through music.

“I want my music to be memorable.
I do that by building songs
around moments from my life.”
— Nobu Woods

The single is paired with a visualizer exuding a quintessentially “Woods” aesthetic, where dark colors blend with flashes of light, an ideal contrast that accentuates faces, emotions, and shifts in the song’s beat.

Nobu Woods made his Warner debut a few weeks ago with Savior, a song that champions boundaries in relationships and serves as an anthem of self-love. It’s about saying “no” to selfish demands from someone once close to him.

Both SPLIT and Savior are part of Woods’ upcoming mixtape UNTL, which features eight tracks, including the titles CLOSER, PRAISE, FAULT, and INCOMPLETE. These songs deliver a mature and well-produced alt-R&B sound, positioning Woods as a seasoned artist, despite his relatively recent debut with Iris just two years ago.

Nobu Woods’ music, along with his high-contrast aesthetic—balancing light, yet favoring shadow—echoes R&B in its purest form, perfectly reflecting his stylized, mature artistry. On this path, Woods is likely to become a defining voice in the genre.
