ALEXIS LYNN, a Pop/R&B Indigenous talent, most recently charting at #1 on SiriusXM’s Indigenous Music Countdown, is set to release her highly anticipated single, “RIP ME,” on February 2, 2024. The track is a poignant exploration of the complexities of heartbreak, blending infectious melodies with anthemic lyrics that resonate with listeners on a deeply emotional level.
In “RIP ME,” Alexis lays bare the raw and authentic frustration that can come with the aftermath of a breakup. The song delves into the struggles of moving on, the pain of letting go, and the journey towards self-discovery and healing. With powerful vocals and a compelling track, Alexis invites fans into her personal experience while also providing a universally relatable narrative.
“RIP ME is a really fun song for me. I wrote it with Jordan Powers and Stephen Conley about the frustrating feeling of trying to get over a breakup. Especially an amicable one. It always felt like it’d be easier if the other person did something wrong and to be able to be angry at them, but when that doesn’t happen you end up feeling really frustrated with yourself and you have nowhere to direct that frustration.
So we wrote it from the perspective of wanting to kill off or forget the part of ourselves that loved that person. Because when you love someone else for such a long time they really do become a part of you, or at least I think so. So we wrote from the perspective of trying to rid ourselves of that part because if you’re not angry at them, the next easiest thing seems like trying to forget them. It turned into this really fun upbeat anthem of expressing all the frustration of trying to forget and move on.”
