On “Blonde,” the artist delves into the denial that comes with early stages of heartbreak and looks back on brighter days.

What inspired such a strong title like Might Not Wanna Wake Up?

Actually, it’s a lyric from the title track of my debut album. This EP kind of continues the story that started on that record, so I wanted to tie them together, a little easter egg to the go fans hehe. It’s also a reflection on my relationship to sadness. I’ve lived in a lot of denial and ran away from my problems for a long time, it was like I didn’t want to wake up from the slumber, I had gotten so comfy in that cloudy and grey place.

What’s the theme or vibe of the record?

The EP is about grief and rebirth. Different tracks represent different stages of grief; denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance. It’s raw, vulnerable, honest, messy, cathartic, sensitive and a bit magical. I always try to create my own fairytale world with my music. A real life fairytale.

Tell us about Blonde. What inspired the lyrics for this track?

Blonde was written some years ago. I was trying to get out of a toxic on/off relationship with someone and lived in total denial of how a lot of things in my life were draining me and how lost I was. In the song I’m reminiscing on things that used to be good and that I had been wearing rose coloured glasses and ignored the truth.

You grew up in a very secluded and enchanting place. How did Finland shape your creativity and artistry?

Yes, a beautiful little island! I’m sure it shaped my creativity a lot. I got to be a kid for a long time, run around in nature and play with my imaginary friends etc. There was a lot of space for imagination and for all kinds of fantasy worlds to develop.

Your aesthetics are quite unique as well. What are some of your inspirations there?

Thank you! I take inspiration from everywhere. Movies, music, nature, life, the internet, everything. I like to listen to music very visually, so always when I’m writing something I imagine how it would look, what the story is in pictures and so when I start working on the visuals there is already a pretty clear idea cos it’s grown together
