Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where you are now?
This specific outcome happened because I was asked to make the video clip for Lyndon Blue,
It was a surprise because I hadn’t done something that specific before but it sounded pretty easy going
And the pop track Hot Mess wasn’t taking itself too seriously which meant I also didn’t feel like I needed
To take the work I made for it too seriously either.
How would you describe the highs and lows of being an artist?
I would say that the lows are feeling immense doubt constantly and feeling like you’re not doing enough to
Actually ‘get there’, (wherever there is I’m not too certain) but the lows are that it’s easy to feel deluded by your own obsessions.
And the ‘highs’ are when things really click and flow and no only does the process of making something help you uncover and unlock new secrets
but the outcome is digestible.
What’s a musical guilty pleasure of yours?
I am pretty much always doing research into how my favourite pure pop songs are made.
Such as Tiesto’s; BUSINESS… literally the best song ever!
What are some sources of inspiration for you?
Probably just people in general, from how a person walks there dog to the dog to spam accounts on instagram.
Also my dreams.. they’re big Inspo for do’s and don’ts in the world.
Who is an artist that you look up to more than others today?
High end designers are pretty good at being the epitome of good ideas, specifically I’m into any seemingly cooked performer that are mostly not around anymore including Lee Lozano.
Favorite activity to blow off some steam?
I’m a bit of a home body these days now that lockdowns are a thing in Melbourne, my steam is blown through being super domestic i.e. vacuuming really soothes my soul whilst spending as long as my attention span can uphold playing piano and singing whatever wants to come out is the next best thing.
What are some things you do to deal with anxiety and creative blocks?
I draw heaps and write out words and issues, dilemmas, plans and hectic stuff I don’t know how to deal with all on the same page and that seems to help. Another way I’ve learnt to deal with blockages is by ‘not doing’, completely switching modes and pretending like I’m not creative and have no idea what that even is, until I come full circle back around and suddenly I’m making something new.
What’s the future looking like for you?
Whatever comes my way, I like when people come to me for different outcomes.
The next serious thing though is finding someone to work on my own pop album with and releasing
my latest product design while it enters its final developmental phase!
What inspires your visuals, videos, looks etc?
It’s usually the environment plus the mechanism I choose to film with plus the look I pick a material and then work with it and all of these variants combined equals to enough inspiration for the project until the next one comes along.
What is the most embarrassing memory and most proud moment of your career so far ?
Most embarrassing is probably failing to clearly communicate with other people what I’m going to be doing or how the work is going to look, being too vague that people don’t seem to understand what I am on about! (That’s a vague answer too!) and proudest is 2021’s projects so far and finally investing in a selfie stick so I can document my day to day activities including PEEING in public spots around Melbourne CBD and surrounding.
What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
Why don’t you paint flowers?
Where do you think the music and entertainment industry is headed after this past year?
I think things are going to get really serious and everyones going to take what there doing too seriously for a little while longer, maybe after that there will be some relief and that’s when I’ll release my own pop album 😉
