Following one of the biggest Australian songs of last year, Young Franco is back with yet another banger, “Come Thru” featuring SonReal and Jalmar. A brilliant follow up to his late 2020 release “Fallin Apart” featuring Denzel Curry & Pell, the Sydney based producer raises the bar yet again with “Come Thru,” a single filled to the brim with confidence and production class. Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where you are now?

Young Franco sort of started as something I could DJ under that wasn’t my real name. From there I learnt how to produce. At first I wanted to write hip hop records, then as I got older I learnt more and more about dance music. Now I think I sit somewhere in the middle.

How would you describe the highs and lows of being an artist?

I think there’s always extremely exciting, high energy moments mixed between a lot of waiting around. I think one of the secrets to longevity is not getting too caught up on the highs and the lows. If you fixate your worth on when everything is going good, I think you’ll have the tendency to do the same when things are going slow.

What’s a musical guilty pleasure of yours?

I don’t really have any guilty pleasures! I think all music has its place.

What are some sources of inspiration for you?

I draw a lot of inspiration from travel, working with different people and other music!

Who is an artist that you look up to more than others today?

I think my homie Pell is someone I look up to. His consistency is mind blowing.

Favorite activity to blow off some steam?

Soccer!

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about

The latest release came from an initial session with Sonreal. We wrote the idea really quick. It took a while to get the right second verse on it, but once I heard Jalmar’s verse I knew it was finished!

What are some things you do to deal with anxiety and creative blocks?

I’m not the kind of person to spend 10hrs in the studio solo each day. I think I try and fill my life with other endeavors (sports, relationships and general Young Franco related stuff) as well as keeping the project as collaborative as possible.

What’s the future looking like for you?

Hopefully back touring!

What inspires your visuals, videos, looks etc?

A lot of mindless scrolling on the internet. Finding things I like and people’s work I’m inspired by.

What is the most embarrassing memory and most proud moment of your career so far ?

I’ve definitely played in some dead empty rooms! Proudest moment would be going to the USA for the first time to tour.

What is the best advice you’ve ever gotten?

Don’t overthink shit!

Where do you think the music and entertainment industry is headed after this past year?

Hopefully some sort of renaissance after a tough two years.
