Krissy is not new to the scene. Previously having released her single “Want To Want Me” she’s now dropping the hottest EP you’re going to hear this year. krissy is known for her lyrically chill lyrics and wicked beats that will make you want to get up and dance. Growing up in a traditional Christian-Caribbean home, her musical journey began with singing in church.

At a young age, her musical interests were eclectic, spanning from Elton John to Hannah Montana, drawing inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including Lady Gaga, FKA Twigs, Cher, Madonna, Mark Ronson, Bon Iver, Lana Del Rey, Ludwig Goransson, and Donald Glover/Childish Gambino. She is a bold and self-effacing artist, combining passion and composure in her work. Her love of fashion and cinema also plays a role in creating her music. Currently, krissy is excited to explore multiple genres in her music. Influenced by electro-dance, disco, grunge rock, and reggae, she is eager to experiment and push boundaries. She envisions collaborations with fashion houses and features on A24 film soundtracks.

Speaking of her EP, “Eat This Cake” brings seven amazing songs to the table. Opening with her previous single “Want To Want Me”, the tune remains as remarkable as ever. An electro-pop anthem that showcases krissy‘s astounding style. With a catchy chorus and impossible to resist, it is the perfect way to open up. “Toxic Trait” is a great follow-up to the previous song. krissy‘s genre-blending skills are in full effect. Taking pop, R&B, and a bit of electronic music to create something truly spectacular. Her voice is the highlight of the song, beautiful and seductive, impossible to resist her charm. “I Choose You” is a sweet pop ballad. The lyrics are heartfelt, demonstrating krissy‘s ability to express deep feelings.

The song is emotionally charged and will have you singing along to every word. It’s a catchy and touching track that you won’t be able to get out of your head. “Dance 4 U” has all the traits to be a radio hit. It could stand side-by-side with Lady Gaga, Madonna, and Rihanna songs with absolutely no issues. The addictive beat and uplifting lyrics make it the perfect track to dance to. krissy has a real gift for creating music that is both inspiring and moving. Next, is the same song? Well not exactly! We’re now presented with a remix of “Dance 4 U” in collaboration with Cahaba Ruins. It is up to you to choose which one you like more. I personally think they’re both great! More choices are always a good thing. “Tryna Lemme Go” is my favorite.

The melody transmits this odd sense of danger like I’m not supposed to be listening to this. It’s like the song is trying to tell me a secret and I can’t quite figure out what it is. I always find myself singing along, even if you don’t know the lyrics. Overall, it’s a compelling track that I just can’t get enough of. Last is the title track “Eat This Cake”. Again I can’t stop being amazed by krissy‘s ability to deliver hit after hit. The lyrics, instrumentation, and production are all excellent, creating a beat that’s impossible to resist. It’s one of those songs that just gets stuck in your mind. Simply put, it’s a masterpiece.

Now that I have given my take let’s see what krissy herself has to say: “If “Want To Want Me” is about exploring the concept of empowerment, with a last-ditch ultimatum to a lover, then the title track, “Eat This Cake” and single, “Tryna Lemme Go” are two sides of the same coin. They are answering that ultimatum with a definitive goodbye. The love won’t last. Can’t last. And we are going to celebrate that demise with heavy-based pop synths, and mixing elements of 70s and 80s dance— but with a modern twist. Sonically these songs are different, but the underlying theme really ties them together. Eat This Cake EP is all about navigating the minefield that is ‘modern’ dating.”

I can see krissy making it big. She has the talent, voice, and charisma alongside the potential to become the next pop idol. My interest in her career is piqued, and I look forward to what she has in store for us next!
