LVRN Records artist Eli Derby has returned with a shiny new offering, aptly titled “Love Song,” just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Produced by Marc Lo & Freddy Wexler, the R&B-tinged single spotlights Eli’s pension for addictive melodies and relatable songwriting — creating a tune that is sure to be stuck in the listener’s ear for days to come.

Eli paired an equally charming visualizer with the song’s release (directed by Priya Minhas), showcasing him and his on-screen interest as different highschool sweethearts gussying up for “picture day.”

“I wrote the song during my very first visit to Los Angeles, it was about a relationship I was in at that time… It was going really well and it inspired me to write a love song that I could connect to, that my friends could connect to. The video mirrors that — I wanted it to be relatable to people my age, we don’t all fit in one style. Also shows that love is universal, it has no boundaries or restraints.”  — Eli Derby says

Tell us about your origin story as an artist

I’m originally from P.G. County MD, where I grew up in the church. Being in the church there were a lot of great musicians. My uncle placed the drums, my mom is a singer, my grandmother is also a singer. So, I had no choice but to be inspired by music.

What do you think is the most important aspect of our life right now?

My music career.

Why?

Because it is my life… I’ve been doing this since I was 2 years old. I started playing the drums at 2, and I’ve been grinding, working on my craft since then. And all of that is to get to a point where i don’t have to worry about the next paycheck, bills, or finances in general. To be able to retire my family (Mom, Dad, Grandparents, sisters). That’s why it’s the most important aspect.

What makes “Love Song” song special in your opinion?

Two months after I got signed with LVRN, I flew out to LA to record in the studio and got inspired by a girl that i was talking to at the time. During that time, I had Music Soul Child’s song “Just Friends” playing in heaving rotation, which inspired me to write “Love Song”.

What inspired this track?

The relationship I was in at the time.
