What inspired you to name this record Mantra Music?

The music I had been making for the past few years were all inspired by the mantras and affirmations I would naturally tell myself on a daily basis. Every song on this album has more than a few lines that can serve as a mantra for people to live by. Mantra Music served as a title that could properly define the messages in the music.

Most important track on the record and why?

The most important track is probably Bawling because of its introspective nature. All of the other songs on the album are upbeat and very positive. Bawling allows the listener to see that it isn’t always positive. On bawling I question the legitimacy of my music career and If it’s meant for me. I think it’s important to show that it isn’t either positive or negative. We’re humans and even the most positive and confident people question themselves at times in a negative way. It’s up to us to look in the mirror and remind ourselves of who we are. That’s where the rest of the album comes into play. Sometimes you gotta pop out and show YOU you’re YOU.

As new yorkers, what does BK mean to you?

BK to me feels like THE mecca. I do know Hip Hop was born in the Bronx and even now the Bronx is a huge hub for music so respect to the BX and all of the other cultural hubs in the city. I just feel Brooklyn has swag that is unmatched. We are wavy personified.

What do you call your signature blend of genres and sounds?

It really depends because I have so many different sounds but for the most part I would say I make Groovy Gangster Music. All of my music has a certain bounce and groove to it but with the modern slang and vibe of Hip-Hop.

What’s the main message on this record?

Be confident in who you are. You are the only you. You are THAT person. Don’t let anyone or anything let you forget who you are. Know yourself and stand on it confidently.

What are some themes that you like to explore in your music and why?

I focus on a ton of themes depending on the project I am working on but let’s go with confidence again. The reason why is because I feel like everyone is afraid to be confident. I want to create music that allows people to be confident again. Sometimes you need to let that confidence rub off on you to build your own. The more confident everyone is in who they are, the better we will function as a society.

How do you pick your collaborators and feat?

It has to make sense with the vibe of the record. From the moment I heard the 2 Pretty beat I knew Karrahbooo would be the perfect feature. I had been stuck on her On The Radar freestyle verse and the beat had a similar sound. For Shoulda Lean I needed someone as swaggy and braggadocios as me so I decided to go with luh dutty who I’ve collaborated with before.

Who is your favorite artist of all time?

That would have to be Kanye West. From the music to the production to the fashion and concepts. Everything about his discography is top tier. I go back and listen to albums like MBDTF and WTT often. Even further back like The College Dropout and Graduation. True master of his craft.
