Pushing boundaries while addressing deep topics is Queer Philly-based collective Love Bash’s way to take their first step into the scene. And what a striking way to do so! The duo is creating their own universe with a debut record titled ‘Falling Upward,” which tells the story of founding member Adelaide “Adi” Day’s journey of gender transition.
The duo spared no detail and invites the audience to get real with them through hard hitting aesthetics and well-crafted songs.
“We believe in respecting everyone’s diverse views, talents, and personalities,” says Love Bash co-founder Brandon Christopher, “and that everyone can find purpose and joy through engaging with ourselves, listening to our hearts, and developing our individuality. For this project, we brought together a wide variety of creatives and endeavored to incorporate everyone’s unique talents in service to a universal humanistic theme of self-exploration and the acceptance and love for all people, this is the meaning of Love Bash!”
Adi’s journey to self-acceptance is the bold manifestation of the duo’s creative boldness which not spares no details on the storytelling side but also deeply explores any and every sonic facet encompassing elements of dance, synthwave, house, gospel, soul, indie, R&B, and more, making this record a must listen.
While intensely personal, songs like the sonorous, trap-infused new single, “Falling” (featuring Elizabeth Kinslow), present a patently universal perspective on how each of us navigate life’s perpetual fluidity, understanding that each passing day is filled with possibility and continual change.
PRE SAVE FALLING UPWARD
“[‘Falling’] relates to going against conformity and the obligations of my relationships to begin to live for myself,” Adi explains.“I found that the vessel of my identity was broken at its core and lacked artistic integrity, so I had to trust my spirit and throw away the old ideas of who I am and start over. I had to tear down my identity and pride, all while facing internalized transphobia and the criticisms of the world. I began fanning the embers into a flame and reshaped this clay into a new form that is better aligned with my emotions and needs. The goal has been to change myself into someone who is better able to feel and express love, and this song represents this intense struggle and fight for my identity in the face of so much opposition, both internal and external.”
“Finding my queer identity allowed me to see that when you live your life for other people, and not for yourself, you can lose your joy,” says Adi Day. “This is a journey of learning to express ourselves and articulate who we really are through a collaborative creative process. Love Bash is an amazing opportunity to speak our truth, tell our stories, and let our passions live.”
