Acclaimed French DJ / Production duo Faul & Wad are poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Cry For You’ featuring rising Romanian singer-songwriter Dharia, out through Ultra Music this December.

An inspired deep-house reworking of the original 2007 club hit by Swedish artist September (Petra Marklund), Faul & Wad breathe new life into the original fusing unfiltered, throw back 90s house led grooves that align seamlessly with Dharia’s breezy, emotive vocal delivery, the end result is nothing short of stunning.

Faul & Wad explain: “We always dreamt about reworking this all time banger from our childhood times. We wanted to deliver a new modern take to the song, and we absolutely felt in love with the new amazing vocals from Dharia. After these difficult times without clubs and festivals that we missed so much, we had to release a new club song to party again and Cry For You is the perfect song for this.”

What’s your story as an artist?

I think we could sum up our artist story to this : 2 young friends with one passion which is producing music. Everything started in Faul’s parents basement in the suburbs of Paris we created a homemade music studio and we released our first song « Changes » featuring PNAU and it was a major hit in 2013 ! Then everything happened very quickly we started touring all around the globe with an US tour, Canada, Brazil, all Europe countries. We were on crazy line-up in major events such as Tomorroworld in Atlanta, Pukkelpop in Belgium, Solidays in France, Kaballah festival in Brazil.

We are now living from our passion and we produce what we like, we got the chance to remix some big artists as well. We believed in our passion and the magic happened 🙂

What inspired this last release?

It was a childhood dance club anthem when we were young and we grew up with this song so it was a pleasure to rework it especially with the amazing voice of Dharia.

This last release was mainly a message from us to the club scene that we missed so much with this COVID crisis.

Do you get inspired by other art forms?

We are always looking for new inspiration in any kind of art, it could be paintings, but we are seeking our inspiration in our travels in other music culture especially.

What’s your favorite place or environment to write?

For us we worked in our home studio it is a safe space for creativity, and you haven’t any closing time it is always opened for work 🙂

Who is an artist or band you look up to today?

Fred again… (aka Fred John Philip Gibson) This UK music producer is one of the hottest producers at the moment, he has a very specific style and his creativity is on top.

What excites you the most about what you do ?

We are really excited about working with other artists, because you always discovering a new musical universe with every people we met. This is how we can make our music style evolving or sometimes try something completely different.

We can say that touring and sharing music with other people is also the best feeling ever.

What is your view on genres and music styles since you mix a lot of them in your music?

We are always looking for new music styles to mix with electronic music. All the genres can work with electronic music or can be adapted this is why we love to explore new music style all the time. We don’t limi ourselves into one kind of music, we are opened to mix rap with electronic music, with some classic music inspiration or even rock music because all that matters is the final sound. At the end this is how you can create new music style or genres it has infinite possibilities !

What does music and art mean to you?

Our music is our way to share our thoughts to other people, we are introverted persons and we think music can help us to express our feeling more easily.

Our state of mind is always present in our music, sometimes it is difficult because when you start working on a happy music because a this moment you were on the top of the world and you keep working on the same song another day when you’re feeling a bit down it can be difficult haha.

How would you describe your act in one word?

It is a « Bromance » : two best friends having fun with their music and sharing it with people.
