The track marks the third single from Fire Affair’s highly anticipated debut album, ‘A Collection of Hyperboles’, set to drop later this year. ‘Get In The Car’ is an electrifying road trip anthem with a twist, capturing the essence of a late-night drive through the Mojave Desert. Inspired by the iconic film Thelma & Louise, the song explores themes of escape, resilience, and the transformative power of friendship.
“I wrote Get in the Car a few years ago. It’s one of the older tracks on my debut Album, A Collection of Hyperboles. It started off with a drum machine as I was making electronic music back then. This track has had many lives, I’d say it was the hardest to finish in terms of production. I had to re-record the drums, get rid of a ton of layers of synths and strip the guitars back.
Production is funny that way, at least in my experience. There’s this quote that is attributed to Coco Chanel – “Before you leave the house, look in the mirror and remove one accessory.” Regardless of what I might think of her on a personal level, I feel like this quote rings true in many aspects in life including music creation. When you spend too many hours on a piece, you tend to lose sight of the initial vision. Our humanity takes over and we feel the need to overcompensate by adding more things, when really we should be taking a step back and going back to basics. I think that is one of the more important lessons I’ve learnt thanks to music production.”
