Avant-pop French duo Sages Comme Des Sauvages (Wise Go Wild) return with a brand new release ‘Vélo’ (26th April), lifted from the upcoming album ‘Maison Maquis’ due for release this June through Capitane Records and Rising Bird Music.

Following on from recent singles ‘Le Loyer’ and ‘Répare ou Pas’ (translated as ‘Repair It or Not’), ‘Vélo’ featuring oddball pop collective MPL, continues the band’s thematic elements of societal change and poses some hard questions on the state of current affairs. The duo draw on a myriad of influences from folk, world music, post punk, French chanson and electronics, their world is a kaleidoscopic palette of otherworldly colours and fantastical ingredients.

“Our new single “Vélo” is a song we wrote for our friends who tend to fall off their bikes after they’ve had one too many drinks. We’re not joking. The track is fantastical metaphor, a dialogue between the inner octopus that tries to drag the person down and the innocent driver falling once more into the trap. It is a collaboration with another French band called MPL. We’ve always appreciated their subtile pop songs and we got along really well. We share a certain view on music making, independence and silly jokes. We recently shot a music video for this song you can watch on on our YouTube channel and the singer Cédric Bouteiller made himself a paper maché octopus headset that is worth seeing.
If we could collaborate with two artists we would choose Saint Levant, for his wonderful music, multilingual lyrics and political awareness. The second would be Zaho de Sagazan, a singular singer-songwriter that just boomed in France, it’s thrilling to see demanding music being widely received.

Our third album ‘Maison Maquis’ will be out on the 7th of June, we are very excited to release this music that never ceased to surprise us in the making. We handed our songs to Dakou a sensitive banger maker producer (half of excellent duet Tschegue). He brought a heavy dancing groove that makes this album more club friendly than the previous ones. There is a lot of us inside. The songs talk about ever rising rents, inner beasts, reparing rage, scattered expectations. It will be released by Capitane Records a Brussels based independant label organized as a cooperative.  We will be touring until we’re tired of playing these songs and it shouldn’t happen anytime soon!”
