Paris-based producer and DJ Matveï is thrilled to share his new EP, SEASONS (REMIXES), out now via Kitsuné Musique. Prior to today’s release, Matveï previewed the extended play with the thumping warner case remix of “REGRESO” (which received support from Jeremiah Asamiah on BBC Radio 1) and the shimmering ASDEK remix of “GIVE IT BACK,” which has seen support from some of the biggest names of the French EDM scene: Vladimir Cauchemar, Aazar, Habstrakt, Mosimann, Tony Romera, Born Dirty and Dustycloud. The new release also features a remix by Tom Jarmey of “LAGOON,” and a NIGHTFALL EDITION rework by Matveïhimself of his most popular song to date, “OVERDOSE,” which just yesterday surpassed *one million* streams.
Speaking on the milestone, Matveï writes: “‘OVERDOSE’ is a song I deeply care about. To celebrate a milli plays on it I wanted to do something special, so I explored what that song could sound like If I had to make a festival edit of it. The result is this NIGHTFALL EDITION, ready to blast at a festival near you.”
What inspired SEASONS (REMIXES)?
We wanted to officially close the SEASONS era with a remix pack of some of my fav songs from the 4 seasonal EPs.
What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?
I see my songs as short stories. My inspiration mainly comes from Cinema and some genius directors such as Fincher, Lynch or Noé. I like unpredictable, surprising, non linear storytelling and I try to write my songs with this mindset.
The NIGHTFALL edition was supposed to be an original song for a future project but I tried OVERDOSE’s vocals on it and they were really fitting the darker vibe I was going for.
What’s a record that shaped your creativity?
There’s many but lately I was really inspired by the short and effective structures Pinkpantheress is using in her songs.
Who is an artist or band you look up to today?
Swedish House Mafia
Any future projects fans can look forward to?
A new conceptual series of EP is coming for 2022. Really excited to unveil this new chapter.
Top 3 dream collaborations?
Pharell, Rosalia and SZA.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you?
House music combined with Rnb and exotic influences
