The preeminent French purveyor of emotional dance music, Mr. Tout Le Monde, presents YOU, the final part of his SUN-HER-YOU albums trilogy, out September 13.  Blending indie pop and electronic styles into a soulful and introspective whole, the album marks a pivotal moment for the French producer, as it was composed and inspired by the real stories, thoughts, and anecdotes he received from fans via a special WhatsApp channel. Check out the unique concept here and here.
Following successful tours in Canada and Germany, Mr. Tout Le Monde is set for a nine-date US tour in September, while his Paris headline debut, Le Trianon, on November 15th, sold out four months in advance. His last album, the acclaimed SUN, featured the heartfelt hit ‘Sunny Day,’ a modern downtempo classic that has been streamed over 70 million times.
YOU showcases Mr. Tout Le Monde’s versatility across genres. The lead single “Before You Go” (featuring Oaks) delivers infectious dancefloor energy while “I Don’t Know” offers introspective indie pop. Fan favorites “Thinking Of” and “Wonderful World” reinforce the unique aesthetic that has become the artist’s signature.

What’s the story behind YOU?

This project is, above all, a thank you to my fans who have radically changed my life. I could never thank them enough for that; this album is clearly dedicated to them. Since I started making music, I’ve always told MY stories, MY life. Over time, I realized that we all more or less go through the same things, at least the really significant milestones: the loss of a loved one, true love, impossible love, etc. So, it felt natural to ask my listeners to share their lives with me and what they wanted me to talk about in my music so that this album could truly be OUR album.

How did you develop the concept for this trilogy SUN-HER-YOU ?

These albums are simply the chapters of my life. I can’t summarize it better than that. ‘Her’ was above all a farewell to a tumultuous, sad, and nostalgic past. ‘Sun’ was then a return to light and a more fulfilling and peaceful life, and finally ‘You,’ which concludes this trilogy as a thank you for this new life.

What was the creative process like for you?

It was done in several stages. I first started by composing the instrumentals and selected the ones that were the most coherent to create a logical flow throughout the album. I then asked my listeners to send me their stories, the ones that were important to them. I chose a few and then rewrote those stories to turn them into songs.  The inspiration came very quickly. Receiving these kinds of messages with such sincerity is incredibly touching. The vocal melodies came together really fast thanks to their stories.

What’s the message behind this project?

First and foremost, it’s a thank you to everyone who follows me, and as I mentioned earlier, it’s also a reminder and a way to say that we all go through more or less the same things, just to different degrees. No matter what happens, even if things aren’t going well, someone has already gone through it and managed to overcome it. Ultimately, that’s the message I’ve always wanted to convey with Mr. Tout Le Monde.

What makes dance music so special in your opinion?

It’s the kind of music that radiates the most joy! It’s the style that fits best for me, as I talk about nostalgic moments from everyday life. If the lyrics are there to remind you of the more difficult parts of life, the music style is here to say, ‘Don’t worry, everything will be okay, get up and dance, that’s how life is.’ Mr. Tout Le Monde can’t be anything other than filled with that joy that dance music spreads.

Who is your favorite EDM artist of all time?

Very difficult to choose just one… But I’ll give it a try! After much thought, I would go with Justice, for the simple reason that they managed to create a style that is truly their own! Through their harmonizations, their chords, which are now almost their trademark, and also the subtle blend of rock and dance music. This mix makes their sound timeless, and it probably will never age! If ‘Genesis’ were released in 2024, I’m sure it would be just as big of a hit as it was back then!

How did you approach the production and sonic aspect of your music?

I haven’t really thought about it, to be honest with you. I just let myself be guided by inspiration. As for the voice, I knew I wanted something impersonal, recognizable but not really ‘human.’ When it comes to the instrumentals, I like to keep an acoustic base, heavily focused on guitar, piano, and violins.

What can we expect from you after this track?

Very good question, I ask myself the same! I hope for tours, to meet the people this album is dedicated to, to tell them how grateful I am. I’d love to work on the live show and, of course, create more songs throughout the year!

What were some of the best and most uplifting messages you received from your fans to lead you to come up with this idea?

It’s not necessarily the most positive messages that gave me this idea; there’s a lot of hidden sadness in many people. I am so happy to be able to help bring their dark thoughts to light through my music. It also allows me to inject a bit of positivity into their messages, which are mostly very defeatist and discouraging. That’s the primary goal of ‘Mr. Tout Le Monde.’ If I can help someone forget their problems, even for just a minute, then I will have accomplished my mission. I want to serve as an outlet, to remind the world that even in the darkest moments, there’s a little spark hidden away.
