Music To Make A Dream Come True blends noise, drones and screams with a magical aura. You can hear the cascades of nails on the strings, followed by vocal resonances emitted inside the sounding board of the harp. Also known as “The Queen of the Electric Harp”, Fusco made this time exclusively use of the classical harp. Music To Make A Dream Come True delivers to the listener for the first time ever a new sound given by the oldest instrument in the world.

The esoteric videoclip of Music To Make A Dream Come True was shot by Francesca Reverito and Riccardo Bernasconi of Studio Asparagus, amidst woods, harps suspended in the air like heretical-mystical instruments, evocations and dances in the grip of possession: “The sound research of Kety Fusco is very suggestive and triggers dreamy images, sometimes disturbing spirits or presences. We have always been attracted to the genre and the Fairy Tale, and also for this reason Music To Make A Dream Come True immediately ‘spoke’ to us”. Fusco confirms the creepy mood of the video: “My dream? Making music for a horror film”.

What makes this song special in your opinion?

This soundtrack is special because all the sounds were created by a harp. A harp that plays something disturbing and related to horror images. In short, it is special to think that the harp, which has always been defined as the angelic instrument par excellence, receives an exactly opposite connotation, an instrument that evokes darkness! The sounds I used I recorded from my classical harp and classified them in a digital database. I then composed my soundtrack on the computer, digitally manipulating the sounds of my harp.

What inspired this track?

I needed to go further. I’m a harpist and I graduated from the conservatory, so clearly I can play the harp. A harp connected to electronic pedals and a harpist showing off her technique and instrumental skills is also easy. In short, I had to go further and explore a different world with my harp than the one I had always worked on. I wanted to create something that didn’t exist, something that would make my life complicated, in fact I decided to work on a horror soundtrack, and my piece “Music To Make A Dream Come True” was born.

What are some of the central messages of this song?
This piece is the result of an initial sound research of the oldest instrument in the world: the harp. Surely the world must be ready to realise that even an instrument like the harp can evolve and develop a new sound. So the central message of this track is: OK, this is a horror harp, and everything is fine!

What inspires your sound?
My sound is my need to live in a certain way. I’ve never liked doing things because they’re easy, but rather I’m always looking for something to drive me crazy. My sound is my character, the noise sounds of my harp are the sounds of the restlessness of my soul and the electronic manipulations are my anxieties that transform and lead me to create a certain kind of music.

What’s your favorite tune of yours?

My favorite track now is: Mario Batkovic feat. Colin Stetson – “QUIS EST QUIS”.

Where are some things you really want to achieve as an artist?
Despite the fact that the world is not giving us great joys, my desire to grow, to value a certain type of culture animates me more than ever. I am convinced that culture makes you free because it makes you critical, and the idea of proposing music that has no commercial ambitions and, on the contrary, digs into the most unexplored areas of our thoughts and feelings is the right way to develop a certain attitude and at the same time a great open-mindedness. Attributes that are more necessary than ever nowadays.
