Emanuela is an artist and performer with a passion for appealing yet intelligently crafted music. She was passionate about music as a child and continued to follow her creative streak into her teenage years.
At some point, she decided to study classical music and jazz, but eventually became interested in writing pop songs with an electronic flavor. Her diverse background allows her to make music with a very distinctive sound, not only to write songs that are catchy, but also to come up with unique arrangement ideas that make her tracks stand out.
This is definitely the case of a 2019 debut single, “Final Fantasy,” which served as an amazing introduction to her music. She doubled up on the success with her follow-up EP, “PURE,” which was released in 2021. Today, she is ready to kick-start another chapter of her career with yet another outstanding release. Her brand new project, “Swallow Me,” is expected to drop soon, and it will come out with a matching music video.
What’s your story as an artist?
I want to create.
Create new colors, new sounds, new looks, new thoughts.
Every morning, I feel like I wake up to a fresh set up in my brain, and I want to execute whatever comes to mind at the moment.
What inspired this last release?
“Swallow Me” was an attempt to make a love song that is the opposite of being soft and cute.
I wanted to share my emotions but in a very unapologetic, rude, and sarcastic attitude.
Hip hop music was a big inspiration for my upcoming album, and in this specific song, I wanted the production and lyrics to give that vibe of sexual female new wave trap and hip hop.
Do you get inspired by other art forms?
For sure, I consider myself a visual artist, just like I’m a musician, and I feel like I’m very inspired by the colors and aesthetics that I choose to be surrounded by.
Any funny anecdotes from the time you were recording or writing this?
More like a fun fact rather than funny, but I do love to insert into my lyrics hints or parts from songs that I was inspired by at that time, so maybe some people will find the hints!
What’s your favorite place or environment to write about?
I feel the safest and most comfortable to write in my bedroom, although writing in an unfamiliar place always makes the lyrics come from a different place, so it can be interesting to try it sometimes.
What’s a record that shaped your creativity?
Many records inspired me, but if I have to point one out, that’ll be Tommy Genesis’s self-titled album. It was a BIG inspiration for my upcoming album for sure.
Who is an artist or band you look up to today?
For the past year and a half, Tommy Genesis was the main one I looked up to.
I feel like she’s able to be her most true self and to do it so beautifully while creating the best fucking music ever.
What excites you the most about what you do?
Everything. This is my only dream: my biggest dream and the love of my life.
