‘Insecure’ alum Mason McCulley talks his forthcoming stage production ‘Carole Cook Died For My Sins’ which he describes as “a gay son’s love letter.” The new solo show, which will be performed by McCulley in LA from 10/20 – 11/10, tells the true story of the actor’s downward spiral into alcohol, sex and despair following the death of his longtime friend Carole Cook – the late actress and gay icon known as the protégé of Lucille Ball who passed away at age 98 in 2023.

Just months after this devasting loss, McCulley lost his beloved mother. In Carole Cook Died For My Sins, Mason ushers the audience into the depths of darkness where he faces magic and mystery, eventually transforming grief into grace, while celebrating sex, sobriety, and salvation with humility and humor.
