All-girl indie rock band shishi release new track “Sushi Express” plus accompanying video inspired by the anxiety and desperation involved in trying to make a difference.

“When you try and try, but it’s all in vain. This kind of desperation came to me a few years ago while I was walking down one of the streets of the old town. All I had to do was go to the studio and write it down”, recalls Maria Rosa, the band’s guitarist.

The idea of making a video for the song was born after the single was finished. The filmmaker Vytautas Juozėnas came to the band’s rescue, creating a patchwork of (self-)ironic images featuring the members of shishi themselves – Benadetta, Victoria and Maria Rosa.

“The filming was not only very funny but also delicious. And since the song is a very negative song anyway and there is very little hope in it, it’s nice that the video balances things on the bright side. At least you can laugh desperately at yourself and the world around you.”

The single “Sushi Express” is now available digitally on all music streaming platforms.

This is the final single before shishi release their upcoming album “Nearly Happily Ever After”, on 15th June via The state51 Conspiracy.

“It has taken two years for us to create this album. We’re dedicating the album to those who want to dance, cry, be angry and shout together. It’s about the reactions, whether it’s praise or criticism,” says shishi.

The band will debut the single today in the first of two performances at Barcelona’s Primavera Sound 2022.

shishi will also tour the Netherlands, visiting the cities of Groningen, Nijmegen and Rotterdam, as well as Diffuse Sound in Italy, Rome and Europavox in France.
