22-year-old Miami bred, Los Angeles based singer songwriter Nadine releases her latest dream pop single “Missed Call,” a vulnerable love ballad in which every note breathes raw emotion, as her ability to paint intricate narratives from her real life experiences shines through. Her delicate, yet powerful vocal delivery recounts a time the pop prowess received an unexpected call from her ex-lover. The combination of harmonic orchestral strings, a sparkling pop beat and producer Johnny May’s signature production creates the foundation for Nadine to warmly invite listeners into her world, as she delves into the emotions that flood one’s body when you look down at the buzzing phone and realize just who it is. Will life as it is change if you answer?

What’s your story as an artist?

I’ve sang my entire life, but really began taking my artistry seriously in high school. I wrote my first song my senior year and haven’t stopped since!

What do you want your music to communicate?

I want my music to make people feel something. I am so moved by different artists and songs, and when I am, those are the ones I continue to play and appreciate. Whether you feel happy or sad, a song that gives you reassurance and re-emphasizes your truth is a great one.

What are some sources of inspiration for your storytelling?

I definitely draw inspiration from my own life. I find it much easier to write with passion when I am passionate about the subject, so writing about my experiences makes it easy.

Who is an artist that you look up to more than others today?

I look up to so many amazing artists, but have recently loved everything about UPSAHL. Her lyricism and melodic choices are so catchy and captivating. Just love everything about her.

What’s the record or artist that made you realize you wanted to be an artist?

That’s a hard one, because I started out my musical life in musical theater it wasn’t until I heard Adele that I realized I wanted to do pop music. Ballads have always been my most favorite type of song to sing, and it’s all thanks to Adele.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about

“Missed Call” came to be one random night when I was with my friends, and out of nowhere I received a facetime call from an ex boyfriend. I took it as an opportunity to run into my room and write exactly how I felt instead of texting him or calling him and saying the truth. “Missed Call” is a song practically anyone can relate to; we all have that one person we can’t seem to let go of, and that’s really okay. Feel how you want to feel and all will be fine.

What inspires your sound?

My mood definitely inspires my sound. If I’m feeling sad about something, I end up writing a sad song. Same goes for any feeling. It’s ever changing and I love that about music.

What’s your favorite tune of yours?

Out right now, I would definitely say “Missed Call.” I hate to be that person, but I always find myself bumping to it in my car alone, screaming at the top of my lungs. My all-time favorite song I’ve ever written, though, is called “Song For You” and that will be coming out in the new year.

Where are some things you  really want to accomplish as an artist?

So many things, but definitely the main goal is to reach people and for them to hear my songs and FEEL something.

Favorite lyric you ever wrote?

“I know my pain, I wear it well. I dress it down, but how could you ever tell? Cause I never wear my heart right on my sleeve, I sewed it up when you kissed her on New Year’s Eve.”

Was there ever a moment when you felt like giving up?

Of course, everyone has those moments of doubt. Like am I doing the most I can, is this meant for me? But then I take a breath and come back to earth where I realize the only way to realize my dream is to keep pushing.
