Sena Kana, the first solo female Japanese pop artist to hit gold status in the United States since Yoko Ono in 1984, follows the success of her latest EP “Show Me” ft. executive producer Poo Bear (Justin Bieber, Usher, Whitney Houston, Ed Sheeran), with the unveiling of “Silver Lining.” Produced and Mixed by the Production Duo Katalyst (Kanye West, Bruno Mars, J.Cole, John Legend), “Silver Lining” is about “struggling through the pain of the loss of love, and trying to find a ray of hope so that you can reflect on the days spent together, not only as painful, but as hopeful.”

“It’s not just about saying, “It’s hard, it’s sad,” and mourning, but about finding hope by struggling and carrying on, believing that your memories will one day become a source of positivity. I think this concept applies not just to relationships, but also when things don’t go as planned, or when we are in despair, and lose sight of tomorrow.

In those moments, the process was meaningful, regardless if the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for. I sing this song with the idea that even if the present is painful, when we find meaning in those hard days, and look to the future instead of the past, we will be able to accept those difficult times.”

Tell us about your story as an artist

Since I was a baby. My mother would play me music to lift my mood. I also have fond memories of singing with my family members from a young age. Often, when we’d have family gatherings, we’d all get together and sing songs. There’s a lot of memories of music and singing in my family as a child. As I got older, I would use music as a tool to make me feel more positive and lift my emotions. This has always been an important part of my life and I realized it’s what I want to do. From there I decided to study music in school, and since then, it’s been an upward trajectory

What do you think is the most important aspect of your life right now?
Singing and spreading the light and helping people through my music is always the most important thing to me. With everything going on in the world I feel like it is more important than ever to promote positivity and healing, and I wish to do this with my music. The more people I can help and bring the light to, the happier I am, so I am focusing my time on singing and making more music.

What makes this song special in your opinion?

I always have a message that I want to deliver through my songs, and I often use images and stories of struggling, but I think the high energy of Silver Lining makes it special. I want the listener to imagine themselves running through the city streets and be uplifted, feeling the positivity.

What inspired this track?

Going through life I have had many ups and downs. Whenever I was feeling down I would sing, and listen to music and it would improve my mood. I think music has always been my silver lining and I want to bring that to other people through my music. This track is my most recent effort to tell my story and I hope people can relate to my experience and my music can help them as it has helped me.

What are some of the core messages here?

It’s not just about saying, “It’s hard, it’s sad,” and mourning, but about finding hope by struggling and carrying on, believing that your memories will one day become a source of positivity. I think this concept applies not just to relationships, but also when things don’t go as planned, or when we are in despair, and lose sight of tomorrow. In those moments, the process was meaningful, regardless of the outcome. I sing this song with the idea that even if the present is painful, when we find meaning in those hard days, and look to the future instead of the past, we will be able to accept those difficult times.

How do you think tik tok and social media are contributing to change an artist’s career?

Social Media has brought people closer together around the world, and I feel that it has also expanded the tools for artists to deliver their works. I think it is wonderful that fans are finding new ways to enjoy music and have more opportunities to express themselves. I had a lot of fans engaging with my songs “Show Me” and “Undisputed”, and it made me happy to see so many people enjoying the song.

What excites you about your life?

Singing has always been something that excites me. It is like magic, and when I’m singing, I feel like I can run faster than the wind or swim faster than a dolphin. When I can share my message and see the positive impact it has on people, it motivates me to do even more.

What are some of your core values as a human being?

My goal has always been to bring light to the world. To do this, I must first be able to bring light to the people in front of me. I think it is important to take care of the people and things most important to you. I try to take care of the people who care about me and care for me. The most important people to me are my family, friends, and fans who listen to my songs. I am sure that my loved ones also care about me, and to honor them. I always want to convey those feelings through my songs. I would be more than happy if this circle continues to expand and brings even more light to the world.
