“GIRLZ” is quintessential INJI: vibrant, bold and irresistibly danceable.. (I have it on repeat!) This track offers a glimpse of her upcoming EP, WE GOOD, dropping on September 13, hot on the heels of her last release, “NICE TO MEET YA (feat. Flyana Boss).

INJI is a 22-year-old artist and songwriter from Turkey, now based in NYC. With a background in classical and jazz music, INJI transitioned into electronic and house music while she was studying at The Wharton School of Business at UPenn. Her solo career began with the unhinged and cheeky “GASLIGHT,” which garnered millions of streams and topped TikTok charts!

What made you write a song like GIRLZMy coping mechanism for “feeling like not doing anything” is doing some crazy stuff. (Like dropping everything and going on an impromptu vacation to France.) “GIRLZ” was written on a tired and defeated Sunday afternoon when I needed exactly that.

So I wrote an imaginary scenario where I’d call up my best friend, convince her to fly to Paris the same day, and then have the girl’s trip of a lifetime. Obviously, this imaginary scenario became a reality soon after 🙂

So I guess I wrote GIRLZ to manifest the bender of a vacation to France with my best friends. The manifestation worked!

Another important part of GIRLZ is how genre-melding it is. On that tired Sunday afternoon with zero expectations to make a full song, we decided to experiment by mixing country and rock with house music. I think the outcome was phenomenally unique and I’m so proud of it!

How does the track fit into the EP and what is the main message of the EP.

The main message of WE GOOD is its title. It’s a declaration. Against all odds, we choose to be and feel GOOD! It’s an EP about delusional positivity and blind optimism. Your 20s are probably the most anxiety and uncertainty-driven times of our lives, this project urges all its listeners to choose to replace that anxiety with appreciating the small things in life, finding humor in everything and not taking life that seriously.

“GIRLZ”  fits in perfectly as it’s a self-indulgent solution to temporary problems. Feeling upset? Hop on a flight and get drunk in Paris
