LA artist Casey Baer is no stranger to the Mundane family! We already had the pleasure of featuring her a little while ago and learned a whole lot about her but this time is different!

This time Casey is getting ready up for her 34-date, coast-to-coast tour with Jesse McCartney next month which she celebrates with the release of her debut EP, ‘Not That Girl,’ a 6-song collection of sassy but sensitive pop-rock, which takes you on a journey through heartbreak, personal challenges and, ultimately, self-growth.

Her latest music video ‘Take It Personal’ says it all!

“This is a f-you song to someone who really hurt me. It’s a song that says ‘you don’t deserve me,’” Casey shares.

1. What’s different about this song from your previous releases?

This release is so different because it’s the first time I have put out a body of work, which I have been working on for over a year with Sophie Simmons, who is the executive producer.

2. What was the creative process for this track?

The creative process for “Take It Personal,” which is the focus track off my EP ‘Not That Girl’ was amazing! It was me, Selena Dosan and Alex Veronneau. None of us had met before, which is not unusual for a session, but we had instant chemistry! We wrote the song so quickly, and Alex started producing it right away, and he just nailed the vibe immediately! We knew it was a good one!

3. You write a lot from real life, was there an episode that inspired the lyrics for this song?

Oh yes! I always write from real experiences and my honest feelings. “Take It Personal” was inspired by a guy I was seeing that slowly ended things without the honest conversation. It was like we became instant strangers! So the best way I felt I could get over it was to write a song about how I felt! I hope he takes it personal (haha).

4. What message do you want to convey with this?

I really want people to use this song as empowerment, being able to move on when someone doesn’t treat you right, or respect you! You deserve better!

5. What do you feel like when you listen back to this song?

I honestly feel amazing knowing I was able to move on and let him know how I felt! I’m almost positive he knows it’s about him!

6. What goals are you setting for yourself this year and what are you prioritizing?

Next week I’m leaving for my first tour, opening for Jesse McCartney in 34 cities across the US! I could not be more excited, I have dreamt about this day forever. My goals are to meet as many people while I’m on tour and to keep releasing new music! I have so many songs I love ready to go, so I’m going to keep putting them out!
