Singer-songwriter & musician ID:EARTH (아이디얼스) is poised to announce a brand new release with the arrival of ‘Betting’ featuring rising Seoul based rapper Dbo.

Lifted from the forthcoming 4-track EP ‘Panorama’ due later this year, ‘Betting’ forms part of the EP’s connected series, exploring polarising musings on society and human experiences. Blending smooth lo-fi production together with meditative melodies, ID:EARTH’s ethereal vocals flit seamlessly over Dbo’s hazy rap delivery.

ID:Earth, which means “the identity of the Earth,” hails from Seoul, South Korea and made her debut in 2019 with ‘Egypt’, an experimental, cross genre pop tune which garnered immediate attention. The next single ‘Olympus’ followed swiftly and led to her acclaimed debut album [BE] in 2020. ID:EARTH’s lyrics encapsulates our relationship with the earth and human civilisation. “My music is made to be connected and pieced together like a puzzle. The lyrics are anecdotes and stories about history, myths and philosophies, it also looks into the lives of people and contains their experiences.”

ID:EARTH’s music has been featured in various Korean movies and television series and she continues to push the boundaries with her unique inimitable style in 2022.

Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where you are now?

I’m tying the 5th release into one project. If the first project was the theme of Earth’s journey with civilization, myths, and theories, this project is the second project with the theme of society.

2022 marks the third year since ID:Earth’s came into the world, and this year, it consists of songs made by everyone looking into what happens to humans at least once and people’s lives.

What should a song or piece of art communicate in your opinion?

Natural things, attraction, feeling, innocence, and experience cannot be overlooked.

It’s an art that makes a difference to me. It makes people move, rest, feel good, inspire, create an atmosphere, and make them diverse.

Who were your top 3 artists last year?

The Weeknd

Rosalia

Depeche Mode

What do you do when you’re feeling uninspired?

I rest because it’s a signal from my body to rest. And it’s also a time to accumulate energy so that I can use it when I get inspiration.

Cause I think inspiration is like curiosity. I know that I can’t stop when I get inspiration and start. However, when my condition is not good, it may be excessive, so it is important to rest in advance so that I can implement it. But when I sleep, I often sleep for 12 hours, so when the time is ambiguous, I don’t sleep at all or I sleep irregularly through gaps.

On the other side, Instinctively, I have time to eat, visually, and taste to make good emotion first. Breathe in fresh oxygen and walk. Or I make movie music. This is because the video contains all the atmosphere and story, so I can make music that suits it.

What are your 2022 projects and goals?

The goal of 2022 is to share many things with people and feel happy emotions. I’m a little insensitive to empathy and emotions, so I’m working on that this year.

Tell us about your latest release and how it came about

This song is about the beginning of society.

Whether I should do what I like or what I am good at, I give the audience the choice and the conclusion is that everything should be prepared first. Remember the original purpose and don’t fall for the greed presented by others and make my beliefs blind and deaf. Regardless of the choice I want and the choice I make for myself, I have to be ready to believe in ‘me’ to get a proper start.

What is something you would want to change in the music and entertainment industry?

It’s frequency

Can you outline your creative process?

When I suddenly feel something, I record it somewhere. Record on your cell phone or draw a stave on your notebook. And reconstruct what came to mind into music and start arranging it.

Who inspires your style and aesthetics?

Rather than anyone else, I get inspiration from fashion shows, movies, and overseas travel. I can feel the aesthetics from various places.

And looking at people with similar facial, body structures to me, I distinguish what I would look good in and what I wouldn’t look good in.

What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?

When I like it and when I gave change people’s lives some of the part,

I feel proud when what I imagined comes true. When you talk to people, it’s like you’re relieved when you understand or feel the same way.

Meeting a variety of people through the language of music has a positive impact on life and my life is going on since I was born as a musician to realize something about myself.

What do you think an artist should sing about nowadays?

There’s no answer. We need to be free.

Do you have any regrets?

Yes, I was unable to save the person I love.

What is some piece of advice you would give to yourself right now?

“Smile, Enjoy, Shake the persimmon tree”
