Zoe Zobrist has spent the past few years refining her sound and experimenting with different styles, ultimately leading to her unique blend of classic rock inspired indie music. She’s been praised by Under The Radar Magazine and Culture Collide and has toured across North America, gracing the stages of iconic music venues like The Viper Room, The Troubadour, and Dallas Fort Worth’s Six Flags Amphitheater.
Her new single, “Fade Away,” is both an exercise in self-forgiveness and an acceptance of unresolved trauma.
“Fade Away” is about growing pains and healing as you work your way to and from different chapters in your life. It’s about looking towards something better while also embracing the process that it takes to get there.”
Zobrist’s dusty vocals and stripped-back acoustic guitar guide the track with a raw intimacy that immediately envelops the listener into her thoughts in a way that feels like a peek inside her diary. In keeping with her 2020 singles, “Fire,” “Who You Gonna Be,” and “All My Friends Are Dead,” it’s another defiant, deliberate, and deeply personal addition to her fast-growing repertoire.
“My dad was a guitarist in a band so when I was born he bought a piano for the house hoping I’d learn to play it. I became obsessed with the piano and I started playing it and writing my own songs as soon as I could.” She confesses.
Nostalgia, adventure and self-discovery heavily inspire her music videos and the way she treats her visuals.
“I use my own handwriting in my music videos and graphics a lot, too.
My lyrics are inspired by personal experiences. I tend to write in a journalistic format. Things I’m trying to sort through or communicate come easier for me through music. Sometimes my writing is very straight forward but sometimes it’s more metaphorical. It’s therapeutic for me.”
Style inspirations include “motorcycle culture, 60’s/70’s magazines and comfy flowy hippie stuff and her Top 3 dream collabs would be Phoebe Bridgers, Robert Plant, Bon Iver
