Montreal-based multi-faceted artist and trance connoisseur TDJ debuts on Diplo’s Higher Ground label with her first-ever standalone single, “Come Back Home.” Alongside the new music also comes a wistful music video directed by Kevin Elamrani-lince.

A nostalgic, sentimental nod to 00’s trance/Eurodance, “Come Back Home” showcases each dimension of TDJ’s one-woman-show skillset. She writes, produces, and sings on the track in addition to serving as the star of the video. “The song is about past life relationships that somehow resurface,” TDJ explains. “There’s this feeling of chasing after something that gets closer and further away at the same time.” Shot in a desert panorama, the video reflects this feeling, embracing the poetic idea of a quest that lasts forever.

What inspired ‘Come Back Home?’

The song is inspired by past-life relationships that somehow resurface. It has this feeling of chasing after something that gets closer and further away at the same time.

What are your own expectations here since this is your first standalone track?

I think the track sets the stage for more music to come…

There’s a lot of nostalgia and 2000s vibes on this track. How come?

I love the music of that time. I discovered Tiesto when I was a kid with Adagio For Strings and loved it instantly. But I did not really stick to listening to trance at that time. I was more into pop-punk music, obsessed with bands like Blink 182, Sum 41, MXPX, and stuff like that.

What can we expect from your 2024?

A trip around the world! I just wrapped up an incredible stint in Asia for my Trance Détente Jazz tour, and now I’m on my way to Europe and then Australia and then the Americas 🙂
