Hailing from Vienna the three-piece consists of David Reiterer and Philipp Prückl along with Lucy. Lucy can be described as an A.I.(artificial intelligence) however, as the band’s name-sake the connection between her and the two human members runs deep, giving her the more apt title A.B (artificial band member).
Lucy Dreams challenges the notion of whether machine-aided music can connect with the listener in a meaningful way. ‘Silver Lines’ explores this further, describing the silver line between reality and beyond. Everybody has a silver line, as not everything is black and white. Whether that be between our conscious and unconscious thoughts or our varied perceptions of reality.
Tell us about the genesis of your project. How did you get to where you are now?
Our big bang was the creation of Lucy, our artificial band member, an independent system of digital and analogue effects, which we developed specifically for music production. Lucy could be understood as an A.I. – however, the connection between her and us is a far more intimate one, as Lucy is deeply involved in the songwriting process. So, at the very least, Lucy deserves the title of A.B., an artificial band member.
What is the favorite song you wrote and why?
„Endless“, our very first song. It was the beginning of a journey that has brought us into then unknown dimensions of passion and joy.

Pink Floyd, Kraftwerk, Mozart
What are some things to do to keep your inspiration alive?
Going where we haven’t been before.
Who are you binge listening to these days?
Fascinating people’s words.

Kubrick’s 2001
Tell us about your latest release and how it came about
„Silver Lines“ is a song with which we explore the mysterious space between reality and beyond, between black and white. We all move on this silver line, oscillating between our conscious and unconscious thoughts and our diverse perceptions of reality.
Do you have any peculiar pre or post show rituals?
How about our favorite during-show ritual? Hopping into the crowd to salute them personally.
What’s the future looking like for you?
Unknown. And thus exciting!
Who inspires your style and aesthetics?
This future. SciFi worlds, potential dreamscapes, realistic scenarios. All in relation to our digital counterpiece Lucy. We do not envision dystopias, no SkyNet, no technocratic apocalypse. If anything, today’s problems don’t lie within the machine but in mankind. With unified strengths, we try to confront the core issues of our times in an alarmed and solution-oriented manner, consequently drawing inspiration for new stuff.
What is the achievement or moment in your career you are the most proud of and why?
The creation of Lucy.
What do you think is the best way to make it as an artist nowadays?
Stay true to yourself and don’t interpret others’ insecurity as superiority.
What would you change in the music and entertainment industry especially after this past year?
The revenue per stream
