LLOREN is a burgeoning pop star whose infectious and epic music you have probably heard already, but not actually known it yet. With tracks appearing recently in Greys Anatomy, The L Word, 1923, Wish, The Company You Keep, Made In Chelsea, Love Island UK & USA and more, LLOREN’s music has been moving its way gradually into the wider consciousness, setting the stage for her emergence as the next alt-pop force of nature.
Her rich, versatile vocal, emotional melodies and cinematic, powerful contemporary inspired compositions have been embraced heavily by the sync/TV/trailer music world since her 2019 debut single ‘Into The Fire’, which also saw her invited to join American artist Fleurie on her first European tour. During the tour, she caught the eyes of promoters who invited her back to open for household names Johannes Oerding and Michael Patrick Kelly.
Why did you choose an 80s sound for this album? Do you have any memories related to that era?
I’m not sure I specifically chose it, more it came about organically, after writing a few songs I noticed I was falling into those synthy retro sounds. I never really vibed with the music in my childhood, I would go back through my parent’s record and CD collection and pick out the things I liked, so I guess naturally that’s informed some of my musical choices. I wanted to take some of the things I loved from that era to give the sound a touch of nostalgia without remaining too entrenched in the past.
Why can’t you settle for anything other than the extraordinary?
In life or love? I think we create our own reality, and we have the ability to romance ourselves, so if we can give ourselves magic, I don’t believe we should be settling, romantically or otherwise.
What’s your favorite song in the album and why?
That’s hard, they are all like my children haha!
I think California daydream really captures that idealistic nostalgic romance, on first listen it’s just a great bop, but once you delve into the lyrics, you’ll hear that all the things I’m comparing this dreamy romance to are, fiction or dead. I kinda like doing that, serving up one thing dressed as something else.
Your music is very cinematic. Do you draw inspiration from movies and tv?
I’ve always loved how music plays a role in cinema, it’s a story within a story, I’ve found some of my favourite artists from tv shows
What was it like playing for PRIDE in London and Manchester?
As a Pansexual woman it feels very rewarding being able to get up and perform for a community that means so much. Pride isn’t just a protest anymore it’s so much more, it’s a really beautiful display of togetherness and I feel lucky whenever I am asked to play!
What are some of your goals for 2024 and the future?
It’s been a while since I’ve hit a big stage and I wrote this album for that, it’s full of anthemic bops that deserve a real show! Performing some bigger stages would be awesome! Also My quirky little music video for ‘like this’ has been shortlisted for some film festivals, so winning something would be incredible, and just having this album find new fans and a bigger audience is the ultimate dream.
