At the heart of the brand is The Young Entertainment Podcast, hosted by Daniella Szetela and Mordechai. This fan-favorite show brings audiences candid conversations with breakout stars from hit series like Ginny & Georgia, The Summer I Turned Pretty, and Wizards of Waverly Place. It’s known for its uplifting tone, insightful career advice, and hilarious FaceTime-style banter, all designed to give listeners a deeper, more authentic connection to the entertainment they love.

Young Entertainment feels like the pop culture bestie we all wish we had in high school — when did you realize Gen Z and millennials needed their own go-to space for feel-good media?

Thank you for saying that. For me it’s always been about the younger generation. I wanted there to be a place where younger people can go to as a resource guide to find out when things are coming out, but also, to learn from young actors, and talent in the field about what it’s like on set and how it’s a job just like anything else you do.

Your content spans everything from TV recaps to actor deep-dives to book club picks — what’s your secret to curating content that feels smart and bingeable at the same time?

I don’t know if it’s such a secret but one thing I like to do is go on Tiktok and Instagram and really see what people are consuming. I sometimes dabble in Discord, X and Reddit and start talking to people about what they want to see. I do my best to listen and give them what they want.

With The Young Entertainment Podcast, what’s the vibe you’re trying to create with each episode — slumber party energy? Industry insider? A little of both?

Yeah, that’s a good way to put it. I like to think we’re smarter than a slumber party and not as conventional as an industry insider. I guess something fresh and new.

You’ve hosted talent from many recent trending shows — which guests have totally surprised you in the best way? Any off-script gems?

Recently Universal invited us to the Press Junkets for both “How to Train Your Dragon” and “Jurassic World: Rebirth” and I have to say they were the most unbelievable interviews we’ve done to date. I’m so proud of both Lauren in LA, and Eli in NY, who were Young Entertainment’s correspondents on these.

There’s a refreshing lack of snark in your tone — which is rare in entertainment media. Was that a conscious decision from the start, to keep things uplifting and fan-forward?

Yes, we try hard to stay away from gossip – we’re not about that. We want to make sure we’re talking about the work and how the character came to be.

YA culture is having a huge renaissance right now — from nostalgic reboots to breakout Netflix series. Why do you think these stories are resonating harder than ever in 2025?

For me it’s all about “firsts” – first car, first crush, anything first – and I think there’s something about it that makes it the most important thing in the world. The stakes feel so much higher.

You highlight not just actors, but also authors, musicians, and creatives behind the scenes. How important is it for Young Entertainment to spotlight the full ecosystem of young Hollywood?

I feel it’s very important. I think without the ecosystem all you have is yourself. You need that ecosystem to bring it to life. Whether that’s the writer or the camera guy – it all shapes what we consume on a daily basis.

The podcast feels super conversational — almost like FaceTiming a friend about your latest TV crush. How do you keep that energy so relaxed while still pulling out meaningful insight?

I think a lot of that is Daniella and her experience in the entertainment field, and our relaxed and wonderful connection with each other. You also have to treat the talent as you would want to be treated. I think a lot about how I interact with someone when I meet them for the first time. I think about what that initial conversation is like.

Social media obviously plays a huge role in shaping young fandoms. How does Young Entertainment balance trending moments with deeper storytelling and career-focused content?

That’s a tough one. We’re constantly trying to figure that out. It’s learning what’s “in” while also trying to have a “teachable moment”.

If you could manifest your dream podcast guest from the YA universe — past, present, or future — who’s getting the invite, and what’s the first question you’d ask them?

Hilary Duff – and I’d want to ask her when and where are we grabbing coffee.
