New York City rooftops have their own mythology—sweaty, crowded, euphoric—and if there’s a band that knows how to bottle that energy, it’s Stolen Gin. Today, the genre-defying quintet drops their latest single “Spoil My Night” (co-produced by Mikey Freedom Hart of Bleachers), just in time to soundtrack the season.
On paper, Stolen Gin shouldn’t make sense. Their DNA runs from classical training to club culture, Caribbean rhythms to London bass lines, jazz improvisation to rock swagger. But on “Spoil My Night” it all fuses into something undeniably cohesive: funky, clean, eclectic, and always danceable. Think disco shimmer wrapped in house grooves, with saxophone flourishes and lush instrumentation that pull you straight onto a rooftop dance floor overlooking downtown Manhattan.
The track embodies the spirit of a summer night in NYC—spontaneous, stylish, and a little rebellious. But it’s not just escapism. For frontman Jackson Lardner, “Spoil My Night” is about rising above the noise of our polarized moment:
“In response to our current state of social unrest, ‘Spoil My Night’ embodies an upbeat approach to rising above the negative noise and keeping a cool head in the face of normalized hatred. It’s all about staying positive and kind, and continuing to live with poise and confidence while the world searches and scratches to find your breaking point.”
That radical optimism is what sets Stolen Gin apart. Born from NYC’s rooftops and back rooms, the band has become a fixture of the city’s underground party circuit, known for improvisational sets that blur the line between live show and DJ set. Their lineup—Lardner on vocals and guitar, production-minded guitarist Will Adler, St. Thomas–raised drummer Josh Farrell, saxophonist/keyboardist Evan Jacobson, and London-born bassist Sawyer Adler—is as eclectic as the city they represent.
With “Spoil My Night,” they deliver a joyful rebellion against the status quo: proof that music can be sophisticated, socially conscious, and still irresistibly fun.
Stolen Gin will bring that rooftop energy to Montauk on July 20 before heading into a North American headlining tour this fall. Until then, “Spoil My Night” is here to carry you through the season—proof that sometimes the best nights are the ones that refuse to be spoiled at all.
