Just in time for the holidays, acclaimed DJ/producer Samantha Michelle returns with a unique and exuberant house-oriented take on one of the world’s most beloved and iconic melodies: the timeless baroque classic Pachelbel’s Canon. Perfectly building up to reveal the full glory of this universally-adored piece, the cheekily titled ‘Canon on E’ is perfect for all dancefloors, DJ sets, playlists, headphones and airwaves during the holiday season and beyond.

From Fashion Week to Cannes to Burning Man to Berlin’s notorious KitKat Club, Samantha Michelle is one of the most in-demand DJs for high-end bespoke events, cutting her teeth on the uber-hip London scene playing Northern Soul parties as half of the legendary duo The Smoking Guns, and opening repeatedly for the likes of Duran Duran, Niles Rodgers, Mark Ronson.

“I first heard Pachelbel’s Canon in D Major as a kid’ declares Michelle ‘and I’ve been in love with this piece of music ever since. I wanted to create a floor-filling banger inspired by its joyfulness and romance; one that teased and crescendoed, in a big room way, but that also captured that groovy far corner feel of afro house. Drawing from diverse influences, the record harmonizes Baroque and West African sonic energies whilst leaning into the element of enchantment that for me, is at the core of Pachelbel’s Canon. I changed the key of the original composition from D to E Major, nodding to the symbolism and slang use of the letter, as I wanted to craft an explosive record that could conjure feelings of ecstasy and other worldly connectivity.”
